The Jokers [Paul London & Brian Kendrick] (c) .versus. The Fightin' Englishmen [Dave Taylor & William Regal], WWE Tag Team Championships Smackdown General Manager, Theodore Long decided that he would hold a series of matches over the past weeks, in which would crown the #1 Contenders for the WWE Tag Team Championships. Over the few weeks, Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoc would face off against The Fightin' Englishmen, until The Highlanders got involved. Finally on the April 27th edition of Smackdown, William Regal would score the final win for The Fightin' Englishmen in a Triple Threat Tag Team #1 Contender Match, getting the win over Trevor Murdoc. On the May 4th edition of Smackdown, Dave Taylor looked to pick off Brian Kendrick, but instead Kendrick rolled him up. This would lead to The Fightin' Englishmen to attack The Jokers. On the following week, Paul London would face off against William Regal but the match wouldn't start due to a steel chair attack to Paul London. Brian Kendrick would attempt to make the save but the numbers game would get to him. Finally, on the May 18th edition of Smackdown, The Jokers successfully defeated The Fightin' Englishmen in a Non-Title Match, to put them up one over The Englishmen going into Judgement Day.
Johnny Nitro w/ Melina .versus. CM Punk, WWE United States Championship Tournament Finals After the United States Championship was Vacated following WrestleMania, Theodore Long made a sixteen man tournament that would end at Judgement Day. Over the weeks, we witnessed those of Johnny Nitro, CM Punk, MVP and Kevin Thorne come off with wins, in fact these four made it to the Semi-Finals to which CM Punk defeated MVP and Johnny Nitro not only defeated Kevin Thorne but Melina injured Ariel at ring side. On the May 18th edition of Smackdown the finals looked to take place between CM Punk and Johnny Nitro but after Melina was caught distracting the referee, she was kicked out, sent to the back. This left the two men to perform a phenomenal match which ended with Nitro crashing down on CM Punk from the top. Yeah, different format. Ignore that Raw card. Backlash is still before Judgement Day, but he wanted to work tonight.

BACKLASH - ATLANTA, GEORGIA - SUNDAY, APRIL 29TH 2007
World Heavyweight Championship The Undertaker (c) vs. Kane One night after WrestleMania, the rosters were re-shifted. And The Undertaker, the newly crowned World Heavyweight Champion, was moved to Raw! And fate had it that Kane would be on Raw as well, and he would even become the #1 Contender to the WWE World Heavyweight Championship! With the two Brothers of Destruction set to do battle at Backlash, the mind games began. Hellfire and Brimstone was just half of what we saw in the few weeks leading to Backlash. The brothers would both grab victories on Raw against some of WWE's best, culminating in a huge tag team match 6 days before Backlash. Kane would blindside his brother and injure him. However, The Undertaker has vowed to defend his championship against his brother, and walk out with the title.
World Tag Team Championship The Hardy Boyz (c) vs. Rated RKO Rated RKO have had problems with The Hardy Boyz for a while. They're also having trouble amongst each other. This wasn't helped the night after WrestleMania, when both men, clearly still feeling the effects of the Money in the Bank ladder match, demanded to be #1 Contender. General Manager Jonathan Coachman, however, placed them in a tag match against the champions. They lost due to arguments amongst each other. The two then decided to try to work things out, and they worked themselves back into title contention after defeating Cryme Tyme. However, tension was still present, and it seems only a matter of time before things blow in their faces.
ECW Extreme Rules Intercontinental Championship Umaga (c) vs. Rob Van Dam No one knows what it is, but Umaga does not like the ECW Originals. The group was brought over together from ECW, and Umaga handily defeated Tommy Dreamer to retain the Intercontinental Championship. Later that night, he would attack Sandman and Sabu backstage, forcing them to go to the hospital. In that same night, Umaga interfered in the main event and cost Rob Van Dam a shot at the World Heavyweight Championship. Things didn't stop there, Umaga also interfered in other of the Originals' matches, and injuring 3 of the Originals. Rob Van Dam wouldn't stand for it, and asked Jonathan Coachman for Umaga in an ECW Extreme Rules match at Backlash. Coachman granted RVD the opportunity, and even made it an Intercontinental Championship match. The savage Umaga may however benefit from the lack of rules, and could place RVD on the shelf as well.
Women's Championship Melina (c) vs. Mickie James Mickie James seemed to dominate the Women's division on Raw, picking up wins against Victoria, Candice Michelle, and even the Women's Champion Melina. Mickie James earned a shot at the Women's Championship, and she has said that she'll defeat Melina again and just as easily take the title from her. Melina attacked Mickie James shortly after her victory against her, and said there's no way Mickie James can beat beat her when she's at her best. Mickie James isn't cleared to compete, and likely won't be cleared until after Backlash. Mickie still wants her shot, and said she'll go against doctor's orders to get it.
Mr. Kennedy vs. Shelton Benjamin Two of WWE's best young talents began to trade victories with each other the night after Raw. In the best of 5 Series that has erupted, both men have 2 victories. Kennedy has picked up his victories with the help of his Money in the Bank briefcase, and Benjamin declared that Kennedy can't win without the briefcase. Kennedy said he'd leave the Money in the Bank backstage during their match, so that he can prove that he is truly better than Benjamin.
Mike Knox vs. Finlay Mike Knox has been on a roll recently. He's picked up victories against every opponent placed in front of him, including the likes of Chris Masters, Carlito, and Gregory Helms. To Knox, Finlay is just another roadblock on his quest to glory. But the Irishman who loves to fight won't back down so easily. The former United States Champion has said he'll stop Knox in his tracks and will make sure to knock him down a few pegs. ]
