I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! [season 1]

I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! is a reality television game show series in which up to 12 celebrities live together in a jungle environment for a few weeks. They have no luxuries, and compete to be crowned king or queen of the jungle.

Bush Tucker Trials: Bush Tucker trials are used in the show to allow the contestants to gain food and treats for camp. Bush Tucker Trials take two formats: eating trials, physical, mental tasks.

In the eating trials, contestants are required to eat a variety of different "jungle" foods. Each dish successfully eaten will gain the contestants one star, which equals one meal for camp (although the number of meals per star can vary). These trials generate the most viewer responses. The foods that are required to be eaten can include: crickets (in a variety of forms, such as cooked into biscuits, blended into drinks or eaten alive or dead), green ants, mealworms, witchetty grub, roasted spider or tarantulas, kangaroo testicles, kangaroo penis, kangaroo vaginal parts, crocodile penis, cockroach (prepared in various ways such as being cooked into biscuits, blended into drinks, eaten alive or dead). Other past foods include beach worms, bull's tongues, the anus of various animals, vomit fruits, cooked pigs' brains, various animal testicles, raw fish eyes, sheep eyes, blended rats or mice tails.

The second type of challenge is more of a physical or mental task that requires the contestants to perform activities to gain stars. These can include searching through dung, going through tunnels, negotiating obstacles on high wires, or performing other tasks.

Neil's Cast Assessment

Bindi Irwin: Bindi is a very nice girl and her home is in the Australian bush so I expect her to do very well in this competition. She is my favorite to win at this point.

Alek Skarlatos: Alek has fought in Afghanistan and Iraq so he should have no trouble braving the conditions out here. He also has a lot of strength which will help him immensely.

Alexa and Carlos PenaVega: These two are inseparable which could pose a problem for them as they are playing separately. It will be very interesting to see how they cope.

Sadie Robertson: She's used to getting down and dirty hunting ducks with her father but it will be interesting to see how she does out in the Australian bush by herself. 

Robert Herjavec: Robert is a mastermind in the boardroom but I don't think he will be that way once he gets out in the bush. I think he's a dark horse that could surprise me.

Paula Deen: Paula is someone who I could see go very far but she's also someone I could see leave very early so I'm intrigued as to how she presents herself.

Michael Sam: Michael has been out of the spotlight for some time now but I believe a lot of fans will still admire his courage which should carry him far along with his athletic prowess.

Witney Carson: Witney is quite honestly my favorite to win at all along with Ms. Bindi. She quite simply has it all, the looks and the athleticism but whether she can survive the Australian bush is another thing entirely.

Alfonso Ribeiro: Alfonso has done plenty of shows like this before so I anticipate him doing extremely well.

Julianne Hough: She strikes me as someone who could do very well, or someone who could do very bad. Only time will tell.

Randy Couture: Fights, drama and arguing is what I anticipate from Randy. He seems like he won't put up with anyone's nonsense.

Day 1 (November 28)
Neil welcomes us to the show from his position about a kilometre away from camp and he says that the celebrities are in for a huge surprise as they will participate in their first Bush Tucker trial tonight! We cut to camp where Alek is the first arrival and soon after everyone else arrives and they all mingle amongst one another. Randy is sitting on a cot looking angry.

Neil arrives a while later and introduces himself as the host and says that they are going to have a lot of fun this season and says that tonight they will compete in their first ever Bush Tucker trial, Snakes in a Drain where the participating celebrity will need to retrieve at least 4 of 6 stars in order to win a prize for the camp and says that Alek was selected as the first to participate.

Fast forward to it getting dark and Alek particpating in the challenge where he manages to snatch 5 of the 6 stars meaning that he wins food for the camp! Neil congratulates him and tells us to join him tomorrow night and to start voting for which celebrity will participate in Tunnel of Terror!

Day 2 (November 29)
Bindi is playing around with a snake that was slithering through the camp while telling stories about Australia to Sadie and Michael. Randy sits on his bed looking pissed off and says in a confessional that he's tired of Bindi being so damn chipper all the time.

Julianne and Witney bond over their mutual hatred of the conditions they're living in and Witney says in a confessional that she is going to power through no matter what. Julianne says that it's only the second day but she's really feeling it already.

Carlos, Alexa, Robert and Alfonso are down by the river and Alfonso makes a joke about Randy being such an old grump. Robert says in a confessional that messing with Randy probably isn't the smartest idea.

Neil arrives at camp later in the evening and says that the public have been voting for the past 24 hours and they have decided that with 57%, the celebrity participating in Tunnel of Terror is...Paula. Paula doesn't look very pleased as the celebrities wish her luck and she heads to the Bush Tucker Trial clearing.

Paula competes in the Tunnel of Terror and is only capable of retrieving 2 out of 6 stars. Neil tells her that didn't do too bad but she has not won a reward for camp and sends her off and she's dissapointed in herself. Neil tells us to vote for who we want to see in the Chamber of Horrors!

Day 3 (November 30)
Randy gets into a heated argument with Bindi about her being so joyful all the time leading to her crying and everyone in camp sticking up for her. Meanwhile, Julianne is talking to Alfonso and tells him that she desparately wants to leave and Alfonso convinces her that she should stay because it's going to be a lot of fun very soon.

Carlos and Alexa are in the river and Alexa says that she absolutely hates Randy and hopes he gets voted out first. Carlos agrees and says that they're all suffering so there's no need to be grumpy all the time.

Neil arrives a short time later and says that tonight there will be two Bush Tucker trials, Chamber of Horrors and the Bush Bunker! He reveals that with 42% of the public vote, Paula will has been selected to participate in the Chamber of Horrors. Paula participates and only retrieves 1 of the 7 stars. Neil says that in the Bush Bunker, Michael and Julianne will be participating and together they retrieve 7 of the 10 stars.

I like this. I dont see Paula or Randy getting very far. Im also jumping on the Irwin bandwagon because Crocodile Hunter!

Day 4 (December 1)
Neil opens the show by telling us that early this morning, Julianne decided to pull herself out of the game meaning that there are now only 11 celebrities remaining. He says that tonight is going to be huge as two celebrities head into the Terror Tavern!

At camp, Randy decides to apologize for blowing up at Bindi yesterday and she accepts his apology and says that she realizes that being out here is not for everyone. Meanwhile, Paula cooks up some food for the camp and jokes about hoping she doesn't have to participate in another trial. Witney and Alfonso talk about how there's a void with Julianne gone.

Neil arrives at camp and reveals that with 22 and 17 percent respectively, Randy and Bindi will be participating in the Terror Tavern! They compete and manage to retrieve 10 out of the 10 stars! The entire camp celebrates as Randy and Bindi are congratulated by Neil on their being the first celebrities to get every star!

Day 5 (December 2)
Neil welcomes us to the show and tells us that in just 4 short days, the first celebrity will be eliminated from the competition and says that tonight, two Bush Tucker trials will be taking place, Cockroach Shaker and the Catacombs of Doom!

At camp, Sadie and Alek are down by the river talking about how things have gone so far and Sadie says that she thought this was going to be terrible but that it's been the greatest experience of her life and she's made friends that will last a life time and she's made friends that she will treasure forever. Meanwhile, Witney and Michael sit on their cots talking and Witney says that she is so proud of Michael and what he's done for the gay community.

Neil arrives and shocks the celebrities when he tells them that there will be two Bush Tucker trials tonight. He says that with 27% of the public vote, Witney will be particpating in Cockroach Shaker. She competes and retrieves only 3 of 10 stars. Neil proceeds to say that with 29% of the public vote, Witney will also participate in the Catacombs of Doom! This time, Witney manages to retrieve 5 of the 10 stars!

Day 6 (December 3)
Witney tells her campmates that she hopes she gets another chance at the Bush Tucker trials so she can show what she's made of. Alexa says that she knows Witney can and will do great! Neil comes into camp and the celebrities brace for the worst but Neil tells them that tonight there will be no Bush Tucker trial but tomorrow there will be another two in which the public will vote for 4 to compete with the two winners, male and female becoming immune from the first elimination. The celebrities celebrate the fact that there isn't a Bush Tucker trial tonight.
