Bellator MMA inks former NFL defensive end and professional boxer to multi-fight deal
Bellator MMA has added another interesting prospect to its talent pool with the signing of "The Cincinnati Kid" Ray Edwards Jr. to an exclusive, multi-fight contract. The Promotion officials announced the deal on Wednesday. Edwards, 31, has 11 professional boxing bouts under his belt with 10 victories (6 KOs) and one draw. Edwards has designs on making his MMA debut in 2016, according to a release. Edwards currently trains with the Vision MMA team in Cincinnati, Ohio to prepare himself for his MMA debut. Back in 2011, Bellator Heavyweight Kimbo Slice was rumored to make his boxing debut against Ray Edwards as both men were looking to get into professional boxing at that time, however neither sides were able to finalize this fight back then. Whether Bellator will now try to make this fight happen inside a cage remains unclear for now, but the possibility exists with both men under the Bellator banner. |mmafighting.com|

I honestly don't man. I could name you around 5-10 guys who were drafted on the last day of the draft (4-7 rounds) in 2015, but not 2006. Plus, I was guessing Oakland Raiders when you had said the name, but apparently not... Then again, he was probably overshadowed by Jared Allen on the Vikings, so that's probably why I don't recognize Edwards.

Bellator MMA adds two former UFC Heavyweights to the roster Bellator MMA has signed the former UFC fighters Jared Rosholt (14-3, UFC 6-2) and Shawn Jordan (18-7, UFC 6-4) to exclusive multi-fight deals this past Friday. Both men were cut by the UFC following their most recent decision defeats. Rosholt, 29, the former OSU wrestler holds victories over the likes of Soa Palelei and Stefan Struve and has proven to be very effective with his gifted wrestling skills as he puts a lot of pressure on his opponents with his non-stop takedowns. A date for his Bellator debut wasn't announced so far, but it seems very likely that Rosholt is ready to go in the summer. Jordan, 31, has fought in Bellator before and holds a 3-1 record in the promotion. The American Top Team fighter is known his "savage" fighting style as 17 of his wins have come by way of stoppage, making him a threat for any Heavyweight on the Bellator roster. Jordan will make his return to Bellator at Bellator 156 when he collides with Joey Beltran on the main card. |mmafighting.com|

If Mojo Rawley and Baron Corbin can be advertised as former NFL players, then Ray Edwards can too, by all means.

Full Card Set For Bellator 153 Bellator 153 takes place on April 22nd in Uncasville, Connecticut. The event will be headlined by the current Bellator Welterweight champion Andrey Koreshkov and promotional newcomer Benson Henderson. The former UFC Lightweight king Henderson is in for a tough challenge for his official Bellator debut as Koreshkov will look to defend his belt for the first time since beating former champion Douglas Lima for it back in July 2015. In the Co-Main event spot, two featherweights collide with a title shot most likely on the line. |BELLATOR 153: KORESHKOV VS HENDERSON|[MOHEGAN SUN ARENA | UNCASVILLE, CONNECTICUT, USA | APRIL 22, 2016] OFFICIAL MAIN CARD ON SPIKE TV
HeavyweightDmitriy Sosnovskiy (9-0) |vs| Chase Gormley (12-5) Originally scheduled to debut back in 2014, the Ukraine-born Sosnovskiy finally made his official Bellator debut against UFC veteran Chase Gormley. The NAIA All-American Wrestler came out wild before shooting for a sloppy takedown that was blocked without too much effort from the athletic Sosnovskiy. With a good grip, Sosnovskiy was able to turn the tables and press Gormley back up against the fence before releasing a series of big shots. Gormley then tried to drop down and shoot for the lead leg of Sosnovskiy, but the Oplot fighter read it well and dragged Gormley face first to the ground. From there Sosnovskiy quickly took control of his opponent's back before unloading with hard fists to the grounded Gormley. Flattened out and barely able to block the strikes Gormley couldn't convince the referee Gary Copeland to give him more time as Copeland signaled to the end fight from that position as Sosnovskiy now finished his last five fights inside the first round. Result: Dmitriy Sosnovskiy (10-0) defeated Chase Gormley (12-6) by TKO (Punches) at 2:53 in the 1st round LightweightBrent Primus (6-0) |vs| Gleristone Santos (27-5) The Brazilian Top Team fighter Santos moved one weight class up for this fight as he took on BJJ black belt Primus, who is 4-0 in Bellator and most recently defeated Derek Anderson by decision. Primus dictated the tempo of the fight as he used his solid wrestling to control the brazilian against the cage. Primus stayed very active from the position before he landed a nice trip that took Santos off his feet and down to the mat. The american landed several hard shots to the body of his opponent before he tried to gain better control, which lead to quick scramble attempt from Santos. Primus was aware of it and almost secured a guillotine, but Santos was able to work his way out of the submission hold. In the other two rounds we saw more of the same as Primus pushed Santos again back against fence, using his dirty boxing to perfection in this fight as Santos struggled to show any offensive. Primus won this fight decisively as he remains unbeaten. Result: Brent Primus (7-0) defeated Gleristone Santos (27-6) by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28) WelterweightBrennan Ward (13-3) |vs| Evangelista Santos (20-16) The Irish Bad Boy had a perfect 2015 and kicked this year off with a submission win at the very first RIZIN event. Cyborg on the other hand walked away from the sport in 2014 after Melvin Manhoef beat him by TKO, however two years later Santos is back and won his return fight back in January via Unanimous Decision over Strikeforce veteran Artenas Young. The fight started off very fast with Ward being the attacker, forcing the veteran to circle away. Known for his good boxing Ward used quick combinations to land solid shots against Cyborg before shooting and completing a takedown. On the ground Ward continued to do damage, busting Evangelista wide open with sharp elbows. Bothered with the blood Cyborg wasn't able to find a way to get back up but managed to survive the first round. Thrilled with his performance and the success he had Ward wasted no time in the second round to score a takedown. On the ground Cyborg worked hard to stay in the fight but in the end Ward's striking volume was too much for the veteran to handle as referee "Big" John McCarthy stepped in and saved Santos from taking any further damage. Result: Brennan Ward (14-3) defeated Evangelista Santos (20-17) by TKO (Punches) at 1:36 in the 2nd round FeatherweightPatricio Freire (24-3) |vs| John Teixeira (20-1-2) The former Featherweight champ Patricio Freire took on fellow brazilian John Teixeira da Conceição in the co-headliner spot. The two BJJ Black Belts were fired up by the chance to get themself in line for possible title shot as Freire and Teixeira started the first round off strong with good exchanges in the stand up. Teixeira used his slight reach advantage very well as he controlled most part of the first round. However, a level change from Freire took Teixeira off-balance as he dropped his guard and ate a big kick to the head that clearly dazed the Nova União fighter. Freire tried hard to take Teixeira down, but the Macapá native managed to stay up right and fight the takedown attempt off, surviving to the next round. Overly aggressive Freire ran into the second round like a bulldozer, trying to take Teixeira's head off, but Macapá wisely used Pitbull's combativeness to land a takedown of his own. On the ground we saw two gifted fighters, trying to secure a submission hold. Teixeira even managed to get to the mount, working on armbar attempt that was blocked wisely by Pitbull. The third and finale round didn't featured many exciting moments as both men only landed sporadic strikes from that point on. Result: Patricio Freire (25-3) defeated John Teixeira (20-2-2) by Split Decision (29-28, 29-28, 28-29) Welterweight Title Andrey Koreshkov (18-1) |vs| Benson Henderson (23-5) After Koreshkov successfully dethroned former champion Douglas Lima in July 2015, the russian now faced arguably his biggest test in promotional newcomer Ben Henderson. The former UFC Lightweight king Henderson made the move up to Welterweight now for the third time in his career and was ready to claim the gold in his debut. Both fighters started the fight off with good exchanges as Henderson took control of the cage, pushing the pace. Koreshkov used his reach advantage to keep Henderson at the distance for a while before the russian tried to get in close with an explosive level change. Henderson used his wrestling skills to defend Koreshkov's takedown attempts but found himself with his back up against the fence for the most part of the first round. Overall the fight was pretty competitive and both fighters tried their best to outwork the other. Henderson got more comfortable as the fight went on, out striking his russian counterpart. Late in the third Henderson had Koreshkov pressed against the cage before the champ tried to drop down and go for the leg of Henderson, but the american challenger blocked the takedown and wisely took the back of Koreshkov as he tried to lock in a rear naked choke. Koreshkov clearly knew he was in danger as he stayed very calm and professional in order to defend the choke and survive to the next round. The champion Koreshkov was visibly tried going into the fifth round while Henderson was clearly fit enough to push the pace and land with good shots. As Koreshkov tried to shoot for a takedown Henderson stuffed it and scored with a vicious close range uppercut that stunned the russian badly. Henderson fired up and exhausted at the same time tried his best to finish job with strikes to the grounded Koreshkov but the clock ran out and now the judges had to make their decision. Result: Benson Henderson (24-5) defeated Andrey Koreshkov (18-2) by Split Decision (48-47, 47-48, 47-48)
Preliminary Card (Spike.com)
Featherweight: Jeremy Spoon (18-3) defeated Alvin Robinson (15-10) Two very gifted grapplers clashed off in the finale spot on the preliminary card as the Oklahoma-native Spoon was able to out strike Robinson on the feet and land more takedowns in order to win this bout by Unanimous decision. Light Heavyweight: Mike Zichelle (8-4) defeated Joe Cronin (19-17) Even though Zichelle lost in his Bellator debut by decision, the Triumph MMA fighter was looking to bounce back on track against long time veteran Cronin who hasn't fought in over four years. Zichelle was very successful with his striking before Cronin went for a takedown that was blocked by Zichelle who then landed vicious strikes after the scramble and earning him a TKO victory in the first round. Middleweight: Tim Caron (4-0) defeated Justin Sumter (0-1) "The Bear" Tim Caron took on the newcomer Sumter who had decent success on the amateur scene in New York. Caron's pressure and wrestling was too much to handle for Sumter as The Bear picked up a well deserved Unanimous decision. Lightweight: Sam Watford (2-0) defeated Dean Hancock (2-1) Teammate of Justin Sumter, Watford took on the two fight Bellator vet Hancock in a very close fight. The Renzo Gracie fighter Watford used his reach very well to his advantage and outworked Hancock in the early rounds. However Hancock scored a knockdown late in the third but wasn't able to finish Watford as the time ran out. Watford won this bout via Split decision in the end. Featherweight: Chris Foster (9-4) defeated Felipe Levandoski (5-1) "Cassius" Chris Foster looked very sharp against the brazilian Levandoski who returned to MMA after a four-year layoff. Foster used his crisp boxing to damage his brazilian counterpart before he scored a wonderful right hook knockout in the second round. Lightweight: T.J. Hepburn (5-2) defeated Jay Bakanowski (3-3) The Nebraska-native Hepburn finally got back on track following two defeats in a row for the 27-year old. Bakanowski however proved to be a tough challenge for Hepburn as the Fighting Arts Academy fighter always tried to go for the knockout. However Hepburn wisely took the fight to the ground in the third round and secured a arm-triangle choke for the finish. Bantamweight: Brandon Moreno (11-3) defeated Randy Steinke (15-11-1) The mexican Moreno faced a battle tested veteran in Steinke and was certainly pushed to his limits. The MMA Lab fighter Steinke used his size advantage very well throughout the fight as his strong grappling gave the young Moreno a lot of problems. However one mistake costed Steinke the fight when he left his exposed following a takedown attempt, giving Moreno the opportunity the lock in a tight guillotine to get the job done in the third and finale round. Featherweight: Pete Rogers (3-3) defeated Mike Mangan (0-4) Both men desperately needed a win following crushing defeats in their recent fights. Mangan was very reckless in the early seconds of the fight and that style costed him the fight as Rogers caught Mangan with a nasty headkick that clearly knocked Mangan's lights out and earned Rogers the victory.

As far as the main card, they would've been pretty obvious to me and I probably wouldn't have picked the winner on the Freire fight, but oh well Sorry I had not seen all of this before or I would've definitely put in some predictions! TAG me next time hahaha

New Title Contenders confirmed
Following Benson Henderson's title victory over Andrey Koreshkov, Bellator officials now confirmed via press release that top contenders Brennan Ward and Fernando Gonzalez will clash off this summer in a Bellator Welterweight title eliminator bout. Both fighters are currently enjoying a five fight winning streak with victories over battle tested veterans as Brennan Ward most recently finished his fight with Evangelista Santos in the second round while Fernando Gonzalez was able to score a decision victory over former UFC employee Gilbert Smith. The official date for the fight wasn't confirmed yet, however Bellator officials noted that they target the duo to headline an event in late August. We can also confirm that Bellator 158 will be headlined by the current Featherweight champion Daniel Straus who takes on german veteran Daniel Weichel in a five-round championship battle. American Top Team's Straus won the 145 lb title for the second time in his career when he beat Patricio "Pitbull" Freire in their third meeting via decision. In his first reign as champion Straus wasn't able to make a successful defence when he lost the belt to Pat Curran in their rematch. Straus is now looking to keep the gold for a bit longer when he goes face-to-face with long time veteran Daniel Weichel who came close on winning the championship back in June 2015. Weichel had the champion at that time Freire hurt in the first round but wasn't able to finnish the job when Freire was saved by the bell. However Weichel then ended up getting caught and knocked out in the early seconds of the second round. Weichel won his most recent fight against Georgi Karakhanyan by unanimous decision to earn himself another shot at the Featherweight gold. |mmafighting.com|
