NWS ShowcaseOctober 3, 2017 A New Beginning“I GOT I GOT I GOT I GOT LOYALTY GOT ROYALTY INSIDE MY DNA”. The Kendrick Lamar tracks booms all over the arena as the crowded fans in attendance get hyped up for the premiere of NWS Showcase. Pyrotechnics go off on the stage as Mauro Ronallo and Steve Corino hype up the show, particularly the main event which will feature Kenny Omega taking on Chris Hero. They quickly run down the other matches announced before hand and tell us that much more is set to come.
Eric Bischoff’s music hits and the crowd roars with excitement as the General Manager makes his way onto the stage. The famous Bischoff shit eating grins spreads from cheek to cheek as the former WCW executive struts his way down to the ring. He grabs a microphone and basks in the glory of finally being in front of a jam-packed crowd again. He welcomes the crowd to the first episode of Showcase. He says that in the past he’s made some mistakes when it’s come to the wrestling business. Well, he’s learned from his mistakes and he promises to deliver the best show for the best fans in the entire world. The fans chant Bischoff’s name as he once again takes a moment to breathe it all in. He runs down tonight’s card, which includes a 6 Pack Challenge Invitational match for the Cruiserweight Championship!
Before he can move on from that, The Brian Kendrick’s music hits and he gets met with a mixed reaction from the energized crowd. He steps into the ring and shares with Bischoff that he hasn’t received his invitation for the match yet. Bischoff says that while he does believe in Kendrick’s ability, not everyone can get into the match. Kendrick begins to go on about all the things he’s done for this industry and how he didn’t come to NWS to get treated like dirt. Bischoff apologizes and says he understands his frustration, but good things come to those who wait. He says he may not be in the match tonight, but he does have an opponent lined up for him tonight. If he does well, he may consider putting Kendrick first in line for the new Cruiserweight Champion. Kendrick begrudgingly accepts and his opponent’s music hits. It’s the greatest man that ever lived, Austin Aries! The fans cheer as he walks out, banana hanging from his furry jacket. He gets into the ring and shakes Bischoff’s hand as he steps out of the ring. A referee meets the two competitors in the ring as they get ready to square off.
Austin Aries def. The Brian Kendrick by submission after locking in the Last Chancery
Austin Aries celebrates his victory as he puts a stop to Kendrick’s championship pursuits for the moment. He climbs up to the second rope and panders to the crowd, only to get attacked from behind by Kendrick! He takes him down and hits him with the Sliced Bread #2 before locking him in the Captain’s Hook submission! Eric Bischoff is shown backstage watching all of this unfold while calling security to the ring. Renee Young approaches him and asks about his thoughts about what transpired. He says there’s no way Kendrick can get a title shot after that. He says this is the kind of stuff that happened in WCW, and that it’s NOT how things are gonna go in NWS. He walks away from the backstage area as the screen shows Kendrick escaping the ring and running through the crowd as security comes.
Back from a break, the first of four tournament matches tonight is set to get under way. The Velveteen Dream’s music hits as the fans cheer for the charismatic superstar. He struts his way down to the ring before seductively sliding in. He poses on the ropes as he awaits his opponent. Dalton Castle’s music hits to even more cheers from the crowd. He is followed by the Boys. Steve Corino states that they could be the difference maker in this match up. The two competitors lock eyes in the ring and have a pre match staredown similar to The Rock and Hulk Hogan and the fans eat it up. The referee separates them before starting the match.
Dalton Castle def. The Velveteen Dream after a missed Purple Rainmaker allows Castle to capitalize and hit the Bangarang before getting the pinfall
Castle begins to celebrate with the Boys, posing in the ring. Velveteen Dream gets up and the two men have another staredown. Dream starts walking out of the ring before Castle sticks his arm out and stops him. He slowly extends his hand for a handshake. Dream accepts before teasing a kiss on his hand. He drops to the ground and slithers backwards out of the ring. Castle nods in approval before returning to celebrating with his boys.
Renee Young is backstage just outside of gorilla position with Jinder Mahal. She asks Mahal about his match tonight. He says that he has never been more ready to bask in the glory than he is tonight. He has a chance to defeat the almighty Brock Lesnar and that he will once again bring honor to his great country of India. He will prove that the Modern Day Maharaja is the only true leader eligible for the NWS World Heavyweight Championship. He walks away from the interview and Renee Young sends it back to ringside.
Jinder Mahal’s music hits and he is greeted with a chorus of boos. He tells all the fans to shut up and bow to him as he makes his way to the ring. The fans chant things like “GO AWAY” and “FUCK YOU JINDER” at him as he awaits for his opponent in the ring. Brock Lesnar’s music hits much to the delight of the crowd. He comes out and his pyro explodes as the fans chant his name. He hops up onto the apron and into the ring before the intense beast locks eyes with his prey.
Brock Lesnar def. Jinder Mahal after dominating him for a few minutes. He pins him after hitting a devastating F5
Mauro Ronallo says he’s not surprised to see Lesnar come out of the gate hot and puts him over as a favorite to win the tournament. Lesnar stares out into the audience with the same intense look as they cheer him on. He walks out of the ring and to the back.
A video package airs for Aleister Black, hyping up his debut. The video ends with the words “Coming Soon” appearing on the screen.
Eric Bischoff is shown going over some paper work in his office before the Usos come storming into his office. Jimmy says that he speaks on behalf of the entire tag division when he says that he’s upset that none of them are on the card for tonight. They feel like they’re being neglected and treated poorly. He then asks Bischoff about the tag titles. Bischoff says he doesn’t know what he wants to do. He wants to give everyone a fair shot since The Bar are entered in the Heavyweight Championship tournament, they may have to wait until afterwards. Jey gets up close and personal to Bischoff before saying that he better figure something out for the tag team division by next week, or else. They walk out of the room, leaving Bischoff with a puzzled look on his face.
Ronallo and Corino hype up the next World Heavyweight Championship tournament match. Adam Cole’s music hits to a chorus of cheers from the crowd. The smirk on his face increases as he gets closer to the ring, soaking up all of the crowd’s energy. He waits in the corner as Cesaro’s music hits. He comes out with Sheamus in his corner and they do their typical tag team entrance. Before the match begins, Eric Bischoff comes out and says that no other competitors in the tournament are allowed ringside, therefore Sheamus has to be sent to the back. This makes Cesaro and Sheamus furious as Adam Cole points and laughs at the team/ Sheamus begrudgingly walks to the back before the match begins.
Cesaro def. Adam Cole after catching Cole’s Shining Wizard attempt and turning it into a pop up European Uppercut.
Cesaro celebrates his victory by his lonesome as the commentators announce that he may have to face his tag team partner in the second round if he can take out Eli Drake. Cesaro makes his way to the back, leaving a disappointed Adam Cole sitting up in the middle of the ring.
Velveteen Dream is walking around backstage, nursing himself from his match earlier tonight. Renee Young begins to approach him for an interview, before Dalton Castle swoops in and interrupts. Castle says he likes what he sees from Dream and he thinks that they should keep in touch. Dream says he’s all for putting their fabulous powers together in order to dominate NWS. They shake hands and Dalton Castle weirdly caresses Dream’s cheek before walking away.
Greg Hamilton announces that the following contest is an 8 man tag team match. Luke Harper, Tetsuya Naito, Sheamus, and Matt Hardy all come out one by one. Ronallo says that this will be a preview of what’s to come next week on NWS Showcase, as we’ll see all 8 participants compete here tonight. The team of AJ Styles, Roderick Strong, Eli Drake, and Dean Ambrose then make their way to the ring before the match is to get underway.
AJ Styles, Roderick Strong, Dean Ambrose, and Eli Drake def. Tetsuya Naito, Sheamus, Matt Hardy, and Luke Harper after Strong hit the Sick Kick on Naito and covered him for the pin. Eli Drake walked out on his team during the match, not wanting anything to do with Sheamus until next week.
Roderick jumps up after his big victory as Ronallo exclaims how huge it was that he was able to pin his opponent for next week. Naito was clearly furious after the match. The winning team made their way to the back. As Naito’s team walks out, he’s able to grab Matt Hardy and hit him with a Destino, sending a message to not only Strong, but to all the competitors of the tournament.
Eric Bischoff calls all the tag teams of NWS into his office for a meeting. He announces that at the first Pay Per View for NWS, Inauguration, there will be a triple threat match for the NWS Tag Team Championships. He says that who competes in that match depends on how well teams perform in the following weeks. He promises that the tag team division will be as competitive as ever. Most of the teams shake their head, besides the Killer Elite Squad who says they shouldn’t even have to compete and that they should be handed the titles. Rocky Romero stands up and gets in their faces before challenging them to a match next week. They agree, and Bischoff makes it official. RPG Vice vs KES next week on Showcase!
The Cruiserweight Championship Invitational is about to begin. Gran Metalik is the first athlete to make his entrance, much to the crowd’s delight. Rich Swann and Oney Lorcan soon follow. Hideo Itami’s music hits and the crowd bursts into cheers. He makes his way down to the ring and stares at his other competitors with much intensity. “The Golden Star” Kota Ibushi’s music hits and the fans pop even harder. Finally, Johnny Gargano comes out and this time the fans react the loudest, as they love Johnny Wrestling. The referee raises the brand new Cruiserweight Championship belt before the match gets underway.
Kota Ibushi def. Oney Lorcan, Johnny Gargano, Gran Metalik, Rich Swann, and Hideo Itami to win the NWS Cruiserweight Championship after hitting a Last Ride Powerbomb on Lorcan. Gargano appeared to have the win over Metalik, but Tommaso Ciampa ran through the crowd and attacked him with a steel chair, preventing him from capturing the title.
Kota Ibushi is handed the title as the crowd erupts in a mixed reaction. Ronallo clarifies that the crowd is most likely happy for Ibushi, but very upset that Gargano got the title stolen from him. The 5 other competitors are laid out across the ringside area as Ciampa looks on from the top of the ramp. Ibushi briefly locks eyes with him before continuing to celebrate his brand new championship win.
Backstage, Adam Cole is seen sitting on some crates, still disappointed about the loss earlier tonight. Kenny Omega approaches him, holds his fist out and tells him to keep his head up. Cole pounds fists with him before Omega walks away, preparing for his match. Steve Corino brings up their history in the Bullet Club and wonders if there’s still a connection there.
Chris Hero’s music hits and the crowd blows up. Hero comes out of the back hot and ready for action. Elbow pads and all, he’s ready to bring the fight. Mauro hypes this up as one of the marquee matchups of the first round. Hero waits in the ring as Kenny Omega’s music hits. He comes out with that Cleaner intensity and looks to be equally as ready as Hero. He runs into the ring and faces his opponent dead on. No bull shit from either one of these men. They both want it. The referee calls for the bell before the match begins.
Kenny Omega def. Chris Hero after taking a few elbows to the face, then reversing a final one and landing a knee right to the chin of Hero. He lifted him up for the One Winged Angel and slammed him down before picking up the pinfall.
Hero rolls out of the ring after his loss as Omega continues to celebrate. He grabs a microphone and tells the crowd that this is only the beginning. He says he doesn’t need a Bullet Club to prove that he is the best in the business. He can do it all on his own. He declares that he WILL be the NWS World Heavyweight Champion before dropping the mic and celebrating to close out the show.

Taven quickly frees himself, falling back into the ropes as he points to Drew Gulak to finish the job. However, instead of dropping down and wrapping his body around Sydal, Gulak flips him back for an inverted suplexe straight on the ropes! Gulak holds the head of Sydal up, waving goodbye to him but suddenly, MATT SYDAL FIGHTS BACK! Sydal stuns Gulak with a forearm followed by a second and a third! Sydal shakes it off as Gulak wobbles back. Sydal quickly begins to climb the turnbuckle, grabbing the head of Gulak and attempting to drag him out of the ring in a headlock!
