The year is 1995. Tucked far away in the hamlet of Pallet Town, Kanto, the soon-to-be world-famous PROFESSOR OAK has finally perfected years of physical and mental experimentation on a vast array of Kanto-native Pokemon. What experiment is this you ask? Well, using only the latest technology available to him, and inspired from a passion developed early in his youth, our dear old Professor has trained these select Pokemon to not only wrestle one another in scripted battles of epic proportions, but he's also somehow trained at least most of them (though not all) to both speak and invoke emotions. Excited, Oak begins making preparations to begin his new company in order to help finance his scientific research of Pokemon in the process, killing two Pidgeot's with one Onix, so to speak.....
After years of saving his finances, as well as holding a small-scale touring Pokemon wrestling show to both build anticipation and keep some money flowing in, Professor Oak finally saves up enough to permanently set up shop in the metropolis of Saffron City. The Professor inks a deal with the powerful and innovative SILPH COMPANY, who agree to build Oak a state-of-the-art facility for his wrestlers to compete in, in exchange for the naming rights to the building. After securing a television deal with inter-regional network POKE'TV, the esteemed Professor Oak finally releases the name of his new wrestling promotion to the public, as well as the starting roster of its' inaugural first year:
