OK its my 2nd favourite match of the year! (A close second to the MITB ladder match) and its that time where we all hope our guy will be the one to go on and win the big one at Mania!
So its seemed like a formality fomany many that this years winner will be Roman Reigns, but a less than impressive return has thrown it all up in the air, so here are a few likely candidates I can see winning this years rumble with storylines to match. All these scenarios are hypothetical and are not necessarily what I want to see, but purely posted here for your mind to examine! Here they are! Also please leave some feedback!
Roman Reigns - the obvious option and the clear cut favourite in the eyes of many. My personal opinion is he is not ready yet and would perhaps be more suited to facing Rusev at Mania and ending his winning streak. But Reigns would either go on to what would be a match worse than Goldberg/Lesnar at WMXX (there I said it) Reigns would almost certainly go on to win so Lesnar can leave as his contract is up. This also provides a window for Rollins to cash in on a prone Reigns to take that rivalry on. The other option would be a face-face almost passing of the torch-esque type match between Cena and Reigns. With Cena's stroke, this one isn't as one sided as the Reigns Lesnar bout but I'm just as unthrilled with this potential matchup as the former. This too opens the door for Rollins s
Dean Ambrose - Lesnar vs. The Lunatic Fringe wouldn't be all that bad. Lesnar is a machine thatdestroys and WWE have booked Ambrose as resilient never say die rebel this year. So this match would almost certainly be a Lesnar beat down with Ambrose coming out on top against the odds. In my personal opinion, if this was the main event of Mania, it would be better suited to a stipulation match, No Holds Barred anyone? There is still the chance of Ambrose/Cena, but i think we've got more chance of Benoit being a surprise entrant in the rumble
Dolph Ziggler - Now this idea is great and horrible all the same. The idea of Ziggler toppling the man that beat the streak is brilliant t! Ziggler could use the rub he would get from it and having been a member of the active roster since 2008, he is the most deserving on this list so far by a mile. Now while the idea of Lesnar losing via Zig Zag is laughable to a degree, Ziggler might be better suited to bring it back his Sleeper hold or even testing the water for a new signature! This has the makings of another Cinderella story much like Bryan's last year (the simulatires are undeniable! Both had poor title reigns & both had the services of AJ before a triumphant face turn) Lesnar strength and Ziggler's Athletism would make for some amazing spots if Lesnar doesn't botch too badly. And for those of you thinking Ziggler's size makes the match look ridiculous. 6 Words, Eddie Guerrero No Way Out 2004!
Daniel Bryan - The most unlikely candidate on the list but not completely out of the running. Remember both Cena and Edge have returned early from injury at Rumble matches and gone on to win! (2008,2010) Lesnar vs Bryan has many of the same elements a Ziggler/Lesnar match would have. A vast mauling for the most part until a fairytale ending. What I think would be even greater about this if it were to happen would be if Bryan were to enter at #40, the last spot in this years Rumble, especially given the disappointment from the fans that he wasn't the last entrant this year
John Cena - Love him or hate him he has to be on this list. He is one title reign from tying Flair. There is nothing to say they wouldn't tie him with Austin on Rumble wins. Plus he would of already lost to Lesnar so this would enhance his super human image. I hate the idea of him winning (even though I like John Cena) and the idea of ANOTHER Lesnar/Cena match at Mania makes my head hurt. Let's just hope this isn't the outcome on the 24th
Seth Rollins - now I know what you're thinking, Why? He already has the contract. But this idea is phenomenal. Rollins wins the Rumble and Lesnar defeats Cena. Now John being John wants another shot at Lesnar, so Seth bargains with John. He will give him his Mania title shot if John brings the Authority back. This happens, John goes to Mania, beats Brock and Rollins cashes in. Rollins is Champion, The Authority are back and WWE will now have transformed a rising heel to a solified main event player. This scenario playing out is unlikely, but its cool, right?
The Undertaker - Yes I said Taker! Now before you shoot me down. Yes, I'm aware Taker will probably not be fit. Yes I'm aware that even if he is fit, he is not fit enough to return to regular programming and Yes, I'm aware the Lesnar/Taker bout stunk at WMXXX because Brock had to call the match. But imagine it,Taker's gong sounding. Him winning the Rumble and getting a shot at Lesnar. This would set up the biggest rematch in WWE History. But how do you draw more people to watch? You put Brocks Title up against Takers career. He has nothing to lose anymore. Now this either pans out with Lesnar doing the double proving to be the one foe Taker could never defeat (que Rollins post match for Lesnar to finish) or alternatively, Taker wins the title and avenges that heart breaking defeat from last year. Now I don't like the idea of one part timer handing it over to another, so the next night on Raw (cos Nobody wants to see Taker lose at Mania a second time via Cheap cash in) Rollins s gets his moment and topples the Dead man!
Now all these ideas are hypothetical as stated and at least half of them are highly unlikely! But your thoughts on my ideas and of course your own ideas are welcomed!
Dean Ambrose - Lesnar vs. The Lunatic Fringe wouldn't be all that bad. Lesnar is a machine thatdestroys and WWE have booked Ambrose as resilient never say die rebel this year.
