Mark Cuban has taken over and bought the WWF from a burnt out Vince McMahon who is looking to move on to politics. His daughter, Stephanie, and his son ,Shane, are both still with the company and appearing on shows but are now working for Mark Cuban. After 3 weeks at the helm, the beginning of the Cuban era is just beginning at the Royal Rumble.

Segment 1 Steve Austin has an interview, in which he goes off on a rant about how much he hates Kurt Angle.

Segment 2 In a match that had excellent in-ring action and great heat from the audience, Kurt Angle defeated Steve Austin in 14:46 by submission with an Ankle Lock.

Segment 3 In a bout that had solid in-ring action but not much in the way of heat, Trish Stratus defeated Molly Holly and Jazz in 9:01 when Trish Stratus defeated Molly Holly by pinfall with a Stratusfaction. Trish Stratus makes defence number 4 of her WWF Women's title.

Segment 4 Mark Cuban is in the ring with Lita, Terri Runnels, Sharmell and Torrie Wilson. He leads them through a standard bikini contest - taking turns to wow the audience - before letting the crowd decide who wins. Lita is announced as the winner, which the other three look very unhappy about.

Segment 15 In a match that had some good action but not much in the way of heat, Sting won a Royal Rumble 30 Men in 63:36. The other members of the 'final four' were The Undertaker, Kurt Angle and Triple H, with The Undertaker being the final elimination. Brock Lesnar got the most eliminations over the course of the match; CM Punk set the record for surviving the longest.

Segment 1 "BOOM! BOOM! BOOM-BA-BOOM! BOOM!" The show starts with an impressive opening of pyro, before the lights are raised and several sections of the excited crowd are shown waving various signs. The focus then switches to the announce table where Ross and Lawler introduce and hype tonight's show and the expected impact the likes of Chris Jericho, The Rock, Steve Austin, Triple H, Big Show and Christian are likely to have.

Segment 2 CM Punk has a microphone, and tears into Billy Gunn, telling him that he is going to get easily beaten in their upcoming match.

Segment 3 In a bout that had solid in-ring action but non-existent crowd heat, CM Punk defeated Billy Gunn in 7:28 by pinfall with a Pepsi Plunge.

Segment 4 Backstage Matt Hardy and Jeff Hardy are hanging out, and discussing an upcoming match but Matt acts like a dick and brushes J.Hardy off.

segment 5 Lita is backstage, arguing with Jazz. It gets heating, and the shouting catches the attention of Stephanie McMahon who is passing by. She walks in and decides to settle it by booking them to face each other in a singles match in which the winner gets a future shot at the WWF Women's Championship.

Segment 6 In a bout that featured great action and a good crowd, Kurt Angle defeated Edge in 11:26 by pinfall with an Angle Slam.

Segment 7 Farooq and Bradshaw are shown walking through a corridor backstage, discussing how the promotion is becoming more bizarre as of late. Bradshaw tries to argue against the matter, but as the pair continue walking they pass the likes of The Hurricane, Goldust and Rikishi, three workers who make Bradshaw's argument to the contrary seem rather redundant.

Chris Benoit shows up for the first time since his neck injury, clearly not impressed, and he proceeds to put the new champion in the Crippler Crossface, rendering him unconscious. Benoit picks up he championship belt and looks at it longingly before dropping it and leaving the ring. C+Segment 7The match is over, yet Chavo Guerrero Jr. looks angry. He jumps Mysterio from behind, throwing a series of wild overhead shots. Rey Mysterio Jr. falls to his knees.
