Welcome to "The Wasteland!" This is a fan fiction created off topic booker that follows the survivors of an apocalyptic war that took place on July, 4th 2014. Fast forward 10 years later. The story follows the survivors of the war and how they will cope with this new world. There is no power, no order, but there is hope. But beware, the fallout fro, the war has cost the world 90% of it's population. Nothing is left. Cities have been reduced to rubble. There is no such thing as as a country. Many animals and some humans have been horribly mutated by radiation and viruses from the weapons used. The world is a wasteland. Can the world be reborn? The story will take place in what was the United States. More specifically in the south west regions of the ravaged land.
(Think of the game fallout, the movie mad max, and so on. Those are just some games and films examples that gave me the idea to launch this ot booker.)

The Wasteland: 10 Years Later"Pilot"
~Prologue~Chapter 1There is a long stretch of road. Surrounded by only the desert. No signs of life seem to be among it. But all of a sudden a Harley styled motorcycle comes zooming down the road. On that bike is Ellie Hammond. Dressed in black cargo pants, combat boots over the pants, a auburn red tank top, a loose leather jacket, and finger-less leather gloves. Ellie has a bit of gear with her as she travels. Not much, but a lot for a motorcycle to seem to be carrying. The time for it to grow dark is coming. She has to find shelter for the night. Ellie continues traveling down the road and as she heads around a bend, a small building that looks like an old convenience store appears. Ellie pulls into the parking lot and parks her bike around back. She has a holster around her waist. She hops off of her bike and pulls out a model .1911 handgun. She notices the backdoor is closed, and it doesn't look like anyone could be here. She reaches for the handle of the door cautiously, ready to fire. She turns the handle and the door pops open. Ellie enters the building with her gun pointed out in front of her. She searches room by room. No signs of life. She quietly continues her search, as she prepares to enter another room, she hears a crash! Bang! She quickly turns around ready for a confrontation and a cat runs away. A shelving unit lays on the ground.
Ellie: "Figures..."
Ellie finishes looking through the last room and decides that she is going to make camp here tonight. She holsters her weapon and heads outside and retrieves her things. She reaches into a backpack and pulls out a old looking tarp. She drapes it over her motorcycle to hide it. Ellie heads into the building and rolls out a sleeping bag behind the service counter so that she may stay hidden if anyone or anything approached. She pulls a bottle of water out of her bag and takes a few swigs of it before undoing her holster and removing her jacket. Ellie takes one last look at her surroundings before laying down and going to sleep. Just as she falls asleep, a small cellar door opens from the floor only a few feet from her. Into the door runs the cat and a hand reaches up and slowly closes the door. Night passes and Ellie awakens. It is early in the morning, as the sun has not fully risen yet. Ellie rolls over and notices that her weapon holster and pistol is missing. She quickly scrambles to her feet and notices her bag that had some of her supplies are missing. Ellie quietly moves around looking for an intruder. She finds nobody in the building. She heads outback to where her motorcycle is. She opens the door to the back and sees that her motorcycle is on its side. She hurries over to it and notices all of the gas has been poured out onto the concrete. She hears the cat from last night meow behind her. She quickly turns around and is met by a piece of ply wood smashing right into her face. Ellie drops cold. Someone stands over her. He looks to be a wasteland bandit. The bandit stands over her and shouts.
Bandit 1: "Get out here and take care of this trash for me!"
Just then, two more bandits appear at the backdoor of the building. The two approach the bandit holding the ply wood. He seems to be the group's leader.
Bandit 1: "Take her down below. She needs a proper welcome to our home..."
Bandit 3: "Maybe we should have just welcomed her to dinner this evening."
Bandit 2: "Oh don't worry, she'll be welcomed alright..."
The two bandits share a laugh while the head bandit looks down at Ellie's body. The other two bandits then grab Ellie and drag her into the store. The head bandit follows them and shuts the door.
Ellie suddenly awakes. Her arms are tied behind her back to a post. All of her gear and weapons are sitting on a table spread out a few feet from her. She knows she hasn't been out long because there is still sunlight coming in through the window. She realizes she is in a basement, but where? She sees ladder steps drop to her right. A hatch opens and climbing down the steps is the head bandit holding the cat she saw from last night. He has a devilish smirk on his face.
Bandit 1: "Well hello there miss. My name is William...What is your name?"
He sets the cat down and it runs off. Ellie stares at him with a look of vengeance in her eyes and not saying a word back to him.
William: "Well aren't we the shy one aren't we?"
Ellie: "That's none of your concern. You should be more worried about what I'm going to do to you when I get out of these ropes!"
Williams bursts out laughing.
William: "Oh my dear! You can' t possibly think you're getting out of here just yet do you!? You're invited to stay and enjoy tonight's supper! As a matter of fact...You are tonight's supper."
William has a vile smirk on his face.
William: "But then again...I haven't seen a pretty girl like yourself in such a very long time! I can get lonely with the other two knuckleheads that are upstairs right now. Maybe you can keep me company. What'd you say dear?"
William laughs and reaches for Ellie's hair to stroke it.
Ellie: "I'm sorry, but I'm afraid I'm going to have to decline your offer."
Suddenly Ellie frees her hands and Williams backs up with a startled look on his face!
William: "DON'T MO..."
Ellie drops him with a right hand right across his face.
Ellie: "Sorry William...But you invited the wrong person to dinner tonight!"
William looks out of it as he tries to make it back up to his feet, but Ellie doesn't allow him to as she knees him in the face. William drops down out cold.
Bandit 2: "Will! Will what was that!?"
Ellie takes cover behind the cellar ladder as the other two bandits quickly rush down to the basement. She doesn't give them a chance to notice what happened as she takes them both down displaying her fighting skills. Ellie looks over her fallen opponents and notices the cat sitting in the corner of the room on the table with her gear.
Ellie: "It's alright, I know you had nothing to do with this."
Ellie pets the cat and pats it on the head. She puts her holster and gun back around her waist. She throws her jacket back on and grabs what gear she can carry and packs it in her backpack. She straps it around her back and leaves the building. She looks around at her surroundings outside, and sees a road sign. The original print on the sign has been marked off, and over it is the painted word "Goldmine 15 Miles Ahead." Ellie starts walking down the road heading towards the direction of this mysterious Goldmine. ~End of Chapter 1~
Chapter 2Alan Gianni: "Things always go according to plan here don't they Doctor?"
Edward Rullen: "Sir, what you are asking is the impossible. We've been working on this for almost 4 years. The bombs wiped 90% of the supply."
Alan: "So what you're telling me is that it can't be done Doctor? Are you telling me that I have failed to provide you the necessary tools for your research?"
Edward: "No that isn't it at all sir! What I am saying is that it is nearly impossible to complete this task. And if we would succeed, there is no telling anyone else has!"
Alan: "And that is why we have to succeed God dammit! Do you understand me Edward!?"
Edward: "Yes sir...I'll get my techs right back on it."
A smirk appears on Alan's face.
Alan: "That is good news Doctor...That is what I like to hear."
Gianni turns and exits through the door and Edward takes a big sigh of relief. Alan walks outside and the view is astonishing! In a world that has been ravaged by war, a town is left standing and a community is live and well. There are children playing in the streets, men and women hard at work. It is just like a real town. A way life was before the war. Gianni shows a slight smile as he heads down a sidewalk. ~End of Chapter 2~ ~End of Prologue~ Chapter 3
Jackson Crowe: "I got you, you son of a bitch..."
Crowe fires his hunting rifle and drops what looks like to be another person. Crowe signals a sign and Alex Crane, the best friend and war buddy of Jackson approaches him.
Alex Crane: "That the last one?"
Jackson: "Seems like it..."
Crowe observes his kill through the scope of his rifle.
Alex: "I don't know man. I hate doing this ya know?"
Jackson: "Hate what? We have a job to do."
Alex: "Yeah I know man, but these people were like us once. They had families and jobs. Maybe there's another way."
Jackson: "Another way? Please tell me how there is another way. They aren't like us anymore man, you know that."
Jackson and Crowe start approaching the "person" that Crowe took out. As they get closer, the body is revealed to be one of the infected. The infected's teeth are jagged or broke from chewing on flesh and bones. It's face resembles what was left of the man it was before the mutation. Almost like a zombie.
Jackson: "Do you really believe you can help that Crane?"
Alex: "We'll never know if we keep dropping them one by one! What if there was? Maybe Gianni has Dr. Rullen working on something. Maybe it is a possible way around all of this!"
Jackson: "Listen to yourself man. Gianni isn't having Rullen work on sometime of bullshit cure for these things. What's done is done."
Alex: "Then what do you think he has Rullen and his team working on?"
Jackson: "I don't know...It isn't my place to ask. We're the military of Goldmine Alex. Not it's local news."
