Since one of my favorite things coming into this season is the amount of rookies with high potential and no real clear LeBron or Wiggins in this draft, who are your top 5 rookies who you think will turn into the best players and what are their NBA Comparisons? Players who missed their rookie season last year like Joel Embiid amd Julius Randle are eligible. Here are my top 5 in no particular order and maybe a couple extra comparisons.
D'Angelo Russell - Tall Steve Nash/Manu Ginobli hybrid.
Karl-Anthony Towns - LaMarcus Aldridge/Anthony Davis hybrid. Not nearly on the same level as AD though.
Jahlil Okafor - Poor man's Tim Duncan or rich man's Al Jefferson.
Stanley Johnson - Ron Artest with a better 3 point shot.
Kristaps Porzingis - Dirk Nowitzki/Kevin Durant hybrid. Had my doubts about him but his Summer League play has me thinking the hype is real. Could be something we've never really seen before.
Extra just because Laker bias.
Julius Randle - Taller poor mans Charles Barkley with less explosiveness. Chance to develop into something more.
Joel Embiid - Poor man's Greg Oden.

Knew he wouldn't pan out somehow. I didn't love Wiggins, but I thought he'd be better than Embiid. I honestly liked Ellis more than Embiid. I thought you told me a while back that you thought Stanley reminded you a lot of LeBron? Hmm... I know you can change your sports opinions/comparisons (I do it all the time), but I'm more interested in why you chose to do so. I honestly would love to know what you think about Justise Winslow, since there was a lot of talk about him during draft time, if Orlando, Denver, Detroit, New York, or Boston would want Justise, but ended up taking his talents to South Beach.

My reason for changing my comparison with Stanley Johnson is his lack of ability to finish at the rim like LeBron. LeBron is also a point forward which Stanley is not. Stanley could improve but I see more Artest in him than LeBron at this point but I really think Stanley could be more successful in the NBA than Artest due to his attitude. Artest looked like a STAR in Indiana but the Malice in The Palace derailed his career. BTW Stanley Johnson just lost his mother who shaped him into the player and person he is so I feel like thats going to be an extra sense of motivation for him immediately. Moving on, I'm really not high on Justise Winslow. He played his best basketball in the tournament at the four which he can't really do in the NBA at only 6'6. My problem with Winslow is his lack of shooting ability and his size. My comparisons are believe it or not, a best case scenario is Dwyane Wade. I think MKG with better finishing ability is more likely.

Minute I saw him play in college, I'm like "Dad, this guy's a one-and-done. He shouts the NBA body." And this Heat team has no shooters. Best one is Gerald Green, and eh, he hasn't ever been great... Wish Ray Allen was back in South Beach. And I really hope Stanley Johnson has a great career, I really do. And plus, the Heat fans can't say "Why didn't you take Stanley?!", because he was taken before the Heat at #10.

Just read that the Lakers are seriously considering bringing back Metta World Peace. I'm not really sure why they are considering it but I kinda like it. Artest was one of my favorite players during his prime and he might be able to provide some veteran leadership and help re-establish that old winning culture alongside Kobe for the young guys. It's not about his on-court presence(I do think he can help defensively, even at his age) but I think this would be a nice little move. Keeping veterans around in the locker room is highly underrated in the modern NBA.

Why do they have to bring this guy back? I honestly think it might be to get some people buzzing about the Lakers again, and I doubt they even do it.

---------Kobe Bryant squashes the idea of ever leaving Los Angeles: "I’m a Laker, man. I'm a Laker for better or worse.”

I want to tag --------- in something for his opinion... His boy Magic Johnson said the Heat and Cavaliers are the only two title contenders in the Eastern Conference. Is this true? If not, who would he take out of that, or bring in (could be more than 2 teams, if you believe so)??

He's back but probably won't actually play much, from what I'm hearing he's actually been a great mentor to Julius Randle.

The only real contender is the Cavs unless one of these young teams takes a major step up like the Bucks or Wizards but it's not likely. If D-Wade can play at a high level like he did for a stretch last season and remain healthy in the playoffs then they have a legit shot but I wouldn't bank on Wade staying healthy. Meanwhile, the West has multiple teams that could end up winning it all. Warriors, Spurs, Clippers, OKC, Rockets and maybe even the Pelicans.

Perhaps Metta World Peace has cleaned up his act, if he's being a mentor figure to a 2nd-year pro (if you count last year).

He's just a weird dude. He's crazy but intelligent and learned a lot during his first run with the Lakers.
