As the Free Agency and NBA Draft news settles and the NFL begins its pre-season while MLB is in full effect, it is the quietest time of the year for the NBA. So, let's make some noise, discuss the upcoming NBA season and make some predictions.

Okay, I won't touch on the Clippers having the best record in the West, nor will I touch on the Cavaliers winning it all... But explain to me how the Wizards have the #1 record in the East. I'm just not seeing where you're coming from.

I'm just not seeing where you're coming from. The Wizards have been one of the middle tier teams in the East for a couple of seasons and I think that their young team is one of the most overlooked teams in the Eastern Conference. I think that if Bradley Beal is healthy and that a couple of things click they could be one of the top teams. I think John Wall will have his best season yet and the number three pick from the 2013 draft, Otto Porter, will finally find his role on the team in the starting lineup in place of Paul Pierce. Now, this is probably going to be way off but the Wizards are my pick for the next team to breakout into the top tier teams but ultimately I know the Cavs are going to dominate the Eastern Conference and there's really no valid argument against that. Now, my prediction for the Clippers being the number one team in the West is based on what they added. They added everything they needed and that was a back-up everything. They added a lot of depth to their bench as they'll have a couple players on their bench who could be starters on a lot of other teams BUT let's be real, it's the Clippers so they'll be bounced out in the second round. And, I'd pick the Spurs to be #1 in the West but they'll have a "it's a marathon, not a sprint" kind of mentality as Duncan probably prepares to pass the torch to Aldridge. The West is just so hard to predict.

Recently got into a bit of an argument with a buddy of mine who is a Duke fan and I made him lose his mind by saying that Stanley Johnson will be the much better pro between Johnson and Justise Winslow. Stanley is the better shooter, he's stronger, taller and more versatile defensively while the only thing Winslow has on Johnson is his ability to finish at the rim.

I don't know if this is my biasness creeping in, but I see no way for Washington to end the season with the best Eastern Conference record. I'd expect Cleveland or Chicago or (in all honesty) Miami to have a better shot than the Wizards. There's a reason Otto Porter's done nothing so far in his NBA career - and he was one I was high on coming out of college.

Their might be some bias on your part because the Wizards have been one of the better teams in the East for the past couple of seasons. They have one of the top backcourts in the NBA in John Wall and Bradley Beal and have a decent frontcourt and bench so I think they have a chance to string together some wins and be one of the top teams in the East. Once I get a chance to review all of the team's rosters and what changes have been made, I'll post an updated and more thorough prediction.

Where's the Wizards bench? lol Anyways, your runner-up for MVP (John Wall) just said he doesn't believe he can make the 12 of the USA team.... Still feeling confident in the Brick Wall? (I just came up with that, which is really nice if you think about it)

John Wall could very well be in the mix for MVP next season and if he is than he's lifting his Wizards to top 3 seed. Wall is the only "true" elite point guard in the NBA other than Chris Paul. Hearing him saying that he doubts he's going to make Team USA makes me question his confidence. To be an MVP in the NBA you have to have a sense(delusional or not) that you are one of the best, if not thee best.

For example, if you were electing a President next year, and you hear him say in a debate "Oh, I don't think I'm the best here. There's better candidates than me", then why would you instill your vote of confidence upon him, if he doesn't have it in himself? Especially since the team is endorsing him with that much money.

Continue to sleep on Charlotte, Detroit, and Orlando.. Why? Well, just because I picked the Hawks to finish around that area and they were #1 in the conference last year. -- But nah, each team brings something to the table, and the least likely to make the playoffs of that three is the Magic. I honestly feel like the Heat don't finish that high (you thought you'd please me by saying as such)... It'd be amazing if they could, but I honestly think they're a 4th-seed in the East..... But #2, I won't complain.

He's not going to be the Flash of pre-Big 3 times but he'll definitely show he's still one of the better players at his position. And I looked at their roster with Dragic, Wade, Deng, Bosh, Whiteside and Winslow (granted I'm not high in Winslow at all) and I see a team who will be in the upper-echelon of thr Eastern Conference. Niw, you say Orlando has the least likely chance to make the playoffs? I seriously think they are a threat to Indiana, Atlanta and Milwaukee to sneak into the bottom of the playoff seeding. They have potential all-star caliber players in Oladipo and Vucevic with other really solid players such as Tobias Harris. They also have some decent prospects in Elfrid Payton, Aaron Gordon and the euro-sensation Mario Hezonja. If the Milwaukee Bucks of last season could make the playoffs after having the worst record in the NBA last season, then I don't see why Orlando can't at least compete for the eighth seed. Detroit could also be in the mix and be a lot better than the eighth seed but I'm not sure how Jennings and Jackson will play together or if they even keep Jennings in the starting lineup or will they look to trade him? But of course, I do hope their pieces fit together because I think they have the best wing player in the draft in Stanley Johnson.

And until Orlando can prove to me they can do something post-Howard, I'll begin to believe in them a little more... They have drafted well though, but it needs to all come together.
