It's not too early, is it? Well, it is. As some of you may know, I've looked into the draft in recent years and have scouted some of the prospects. This beginning as early as December, and as late as February. However, I thought I'd be like a Cleveland Brown or a New York Jet, go ahead and throw away my season, and start looking into next year's prospects. This thread is where I'll be marking down these prospects, what I see, what I like, and profiling them the best of my ability. Also, with looking at these prospects so early, my opinion could change based on how they play, so there should be continuous updates through the 2015 college football season. This thread can also be of use: - You suggesting prospects I look at (big name or underdogs) - You profiling your own prospects - You giving me feedback on my profiles - You asking for anyone's opinion (ie. Thoughts on Joey Bosa, thoughts on what/who your fave NFL team should draft, etc) Let's hope this works out, as I'm excited to go ahead and get things started.

FILM WATCHED: Tape One, Tape Two (links) PROSPECT: Joey Bosa, #97 COLLEGE: Ohio State HEIGHT/WEIGHT: 6'6'', 275 lbs (according to ourlads.com, Wikipedia) CLASS: Junior PROJECTION: 1st-Round Pick (#1 according to ourlads.com) AWARDS: - Unanimous All-American (2014) - First Team All-Big 10 (2014) - Smith-Brown Defensive Lineman of the Year (2014) INTERESTING FACTS: - Joey Bosa's father played in the NFL for the Dolphins (John Bosa) - Joey Bosa's brother Nick is pursuing a college football career as well PLAYER ANALYSIS: Bosa is a monster. Several plays he shed not one, but two defenders to get in the backfield, and he just seemed to be the heart and soul of the inevitable champion Buckeye defense. Bosa definitely seems to be an impact player, who could play the DE position, and I wouldn't count out him losing 5-10 pounds to play OLB if asked. - Michael CHARACTER ANALYSIS: Bosa's suspended the first game of his junior year for undisclosed reasons, along with other teammates. If this isn't something to get an edge up on the opponent, he still has his skill and dominance, but it makes you wonder why he's suspended. Academic reasons? Behavioral issues? Again, undisclosed, but you know the 32 teams will want to know what went down, come the Combine. - Michael OVERALL ANALYSIS: I don't like to make comparisons from college players to NFL stars, I just don't. But the first video said "Mini-Watt" and all I could think about was "Slow your role. We don't know the guy's work ethic or his dedication to the game"... With that said, he seems to make enough impact to be compared to JJ Watt, especially considering bottomfeeding teams will be looking for that one player. Not many defensive ends get recognition coming into, what we'd assume to be, their final year in college. Jadeveon Clowney popped into my mind, and I wanted to tell you guys this is NOT a Clowney situation. We know that Clowney's not worked out so far, with injuries and showing a lack of work ethic, but Bosa's not a Clowney. Clowney's big name came from 1 hit, and I repeat, ONE hit. Bosa's name has come from a consistency in the Big 10, and that shows me he can go a long way.
Assuming it was an academic issue or one minor behavioral thing, Bosa's going to be a top 3 pick at the lowest if he can produce on the field in his junior year. This all depending on what teams draft 1, 2, and 3. If you see the Titans with the #1 pick this year (which they more than likely will be with one of the higher draft picks), then that'd be a no contest, considering the Titans have their QB and need someone to help that defense, after passing up the likes of Dante Fowler and Leonard Williams.
I love Bosa's potential, and I can see it translating to the NFL, especially with his bloodline. The name "Joey Bosa" will likely be the most heard name in all of college football this season, so I suggest you familiarize yourself with it. - Michael

*NOT 2016 NFL DRAFT ELIGIBLE* - done at request of ---------FILM WATCHED: Tape One, Tape TwoPROSPECT: Josh Rosen, Quarterback COLLEGE: Committed to UCLA HEIGHT/WEIGHT: 6'4'', 207 lbs (according to Wikipedia) CLASS: Freshman PROJECTION: N/A AWARDS: Sam B. Nicola Award (2014) - don't ask what that is, because I looked it up and couldn't find it INTERESTING FACTS: - Rosen began taking classes at UCLA in January 2015 to partake in UCLA's spring practice. PLAYER ANALYSIS: I watched some of his plays, and was impressed for a high school kid to throw that deep, which I've seen players with weaker arms make it to the NFL. I found he had a quick release, but that could have easily been because his receivers were getting open. I did see some throws where he threw it only for the receiver to make a play on the ball, which is crucial in a couple goal-line situations he was found in. His coaches said he was a fast thinker and processes things on and off the field quickly, which you need playing football. So perhaps that was why he has a quick release, but if this is true, he is going to be able to read the defenses, and is likely willing to learn the game at the next level. - Michael CHARACTER ANALYSIS: This is why I involved the second tape, which is really just getting to know this high school recruit. At the offset, he seemed confident in his own abilities, which you want that in a quarterback, but you don't want TOO cocky, but as I went through the video, I didn't get that strong of a sense. He was credited for his determination and desire for the game of football, which he switched to from tennis before high school. He also used his fast processing mind to get good grades in school, so you wonder what his Wonderlic will be in 3-4 years. The bright side is, you don't have to worry about the kid's academics, if he keeps it up and applies himself to the UCLA book life. - Michael OVERALL ANALYSIS: Something tells me he's going to be the starter as a true freshman for the Bruins. He is a different type of quarterback than Brett Hundley was, as Rosen was ranked the #1 pro style quarterback of the high school class, so it'd be interesting how the Bruins tweak things to make Rosen more comfortable. I see an incredible work ethic from this kid, and you need that to succeed at a new and more challenging level. He's going to need to be able to be more accurate with his passes and fitting the ball into tighter windows - which all quarterbacks must do when raising a level.
Josh Rosen is going to have an up-and-down freshman year, as if we look at this realistically, he will be playing in the Pac-12. But this is the first time I've heard of him, and I'd be satisfied having him as my quarterback this year, even as a true freshman. And looking at it like this, is if the coaching staff decide Rosen is the best option for quarterback (he'll have to win the battle) then that's a compliment in of itself. If he struggles this year, oh well, you have two years for him to improve and will likely be big for the program. - Michael
