Russia gets revenge, claims first victory
EDMONTON - Russia claimed it's first victory of the tournament with a 6-1 victory over the Czech Republic. Alexander Ovechkin was the star of the game for the Russians as he scored a hat trick and had 2 assists.

Denmark stuns world, downs stacked United StatesCALGARY - Analysts figured this game was a forgone conclusion as to who would win but that was certainly not the case as Denmark made the United States look like a bunch of chumps when they skated circles around them for a 4-1 victory.

Sweden remains perfect, defeats SlovakiaEDMONTON - In a closer game than most expected, Sweden was able to take down the Slovakians 5-4 in a shootut. Sweden and Czech Republic are the last remaining undefeated teams in the tournament.

Hard fought victory for Finland causes 5 way tie
CALGARY - Finland and the Czech Republic went down to the wire and it was captain Jussi Jokinen that scored the game winner in the dying moments of the third to give Finland the 2-1 victory causing a 5-way tie in Group B.

Latvia no match for powerhouse Swiss team
EDMONTON - Latvia attempted the upset but they were no match for Switzerland who absolutely dominated the game from the middle of the first period and the ending score was 7-1 for the Swiss.

Canadians roar back late to take down United StatesCALGARY - In one of the greatest comebacks in international hockey history, the United States went into the third period with a very comfortable 4-0 lead over host Canada but it all fell apart when PK Subban scored on a funky bounce and it was all downhill from there as Canada scored three goals within 7 minutes to tie the game at 4 apiece and Jeff Carter scored the gamewinner with 37 seconds left going through the five hole of Jonathan Quick.

Swedes shut out Russian, remain perfect...star goalie injured
EDMONTON - Sweden remained perfect after Viktor Fasth managed to shut the Russians out winning by a 1-0 score. In the closing seconds of the game, however, Fasth was mowed over by a Russian forward and was diagnosed with a concussion. He will miss the remainder of the tournament.

Fins crush Dane, jump into 1st in Group BCALGARY - Denmark stood no chance as Finland finally showed what they are made of and demolished Denmark by a final score of 7-2. They jump into a tie for 1st with Canada in Group B.

Swiss pull ahead late, stop Slovakia
EDMONTON - The game that was tied 0-0 the majority of the way through saw an epic ending when Switzerland scored with 3 minutes remaining and managed to hold on for a 1-0 victory over Slovakia.

CALGARY - Denmark struggled early on in the game but got their bearings straight and ended up defeated the Czech Republic by a final score of 4-2.

Slovakia dominates Latvia
EDMONTON - Slovakia dominated early and often in their final game of the group stage and ended up handing Latvia a 7-0 loss. Latvia looks to be on their way to relegation but they have one game remaining.

Canada downs Finland, wins Group B
CALGARY - In a fantastic performance by both teams, it was Canada that ended up claiming the victory by a final score of 5-3 and managed to capture Group B.

Star goalie out? No problem for Swedes as they capture Group AEDMONTON - Even with star goaltender Viktor Fasth out with injury, the Swedish team was able to overcome Switzerland in overtime by a score of 3-2 to capture first place in Group A.

United States survives, Czechs left with questions following relegation
CALGARY - It was do or die for both teams in Group B and it was the United States that was able to survive an onslaught in the dying seconds of period 3 to claim the 2-1 victory over the Czech Republic. The Czech Republic will be relegated and will not participate in the tournament in 2016.
