This Sunday is WWE’s next Pay-Per-View, Fastlane! This is the second ever Fastlane Pay-Per-View, with the first being last year. The main event was Roman Reigns vs. Daniel Bryan, with the winner facing Brock Lesnar for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania. Currently, this is the card for this year’s event:
Kalisto vs. Alberto Del Rio - 2 out of 3 Falls match for the United States Championship
Charlotte vs. Brie Bella - Divas Championship
Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks vs. Naomi and Tamina
Kevin Owens vs. Dolph Ziggler - Intercontinental Championship
Dean Ambrose vs. Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar - #1 Contenders match for WWE World Heavyweight Championship match at WrestleMania
With only 5 matches, at least two more are likely to be added, with one having been teased for a while now. I’ll add matches that I think will happen at the event, so lets get to the booking.
Kalisto (c) vs. Alberto Del Rio - 2 Out of 3 Falls Match for the United States ChampionshipThis is a rivalry that in just two months has played its course. Kalisto and Del Rio traded the US Title, and this should be the final match in their rivalry. The 2 out of 3 Falls Match is how you end this kind of in-ring based storyline, to truly prove who’s better. The match should start with Kalisto getting the edge over Del Rio, but be a standard back and forth match, with Kalisto getting the first fall. As the match continues, Del Rio begins to build momentum and makes Kalisto tap out to the Cross Arm Breaker, but holds on after Kalisto beings to tap, kayfabe injuring his arm. He lets go before the ref disqualifies him in the third fall, and Kalisto is showing signs of injury. Del Rio continues to build momentum, but Kalisto mounts a comeback, but The League of Nations come out to distract Kalisto. Sin Cara comes out and distracts the League long enough for Kalisto to get the final fall over Del Rio and retain the United States Championship.
The Usos vs. The Dudley BoysThe Dudleys turned heel on The Usos two weeks ago, and this match is very likely to be added to the card on SmackDown. This match should be back and forth, a classic tag team match. Hot tags, momentum changes, all the sorts. The Dudleys should take over early, with The Usos beginning a comeback about 5 minutes into the match. The Usos start to look like they’ll win it, but Bubba, the illegal man, comes in and attacks both Usos. The ref gets him back on the apron, but D-Von is able to take control of The Usos, and eventually the Dudleys win with the 3-D.
Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks vs. Naomi and TaminaLynch and Banks formed an unlikely duo a few weeks ago after Lynch saved Banks from an attack from her Team B.A.D. sisters. Tamina and Lynch should start this match, with Tamina getting the better of Becky. Team B.A.D. should tag back and forth and keep Becky in the ring, until Becky starts to make a comeback. She eventually tags Sasha in on a hot tag, and Sasha beats both Tamina and Naomi. Tamina looks to get Sasha from behind, but Becky comes in and makes the save, with Sasha locking Naomi into the Bank Statement, with Naomi tapping and Lynch and Banks winning the match.
Kane, Big Show and Ryback vs. The Wyatt FamilyThis match was first teased on this week’s Raw, and gives all six men to do (and would also be the third straight tag team match on the show). Kane and Rowan start the match, with only Ryback and Harper being tagged in by the teams. Eventually, a fresh Big Show and a fresh Braun Strowman get tagged in seconds apart, and the two come head to head. Show and Strowman go at each other, and eventually, Braun Strowman gets the better of Big Show. Strowman makes Show pass out with his triangle choke, and The Wyatts win.
Kevin Owens vs. Dolph Ziggler - Intercontinental ChampionshipThis is another feud that has been going on a long time, and is mostly in-ring. Thus, this should end it. Owens won the Intercontinental Championship on Raw in a Fatal 5 Way match involving himself, Dean Ambrose, Tyler Breeze, Dolph Ziggler and Stardust. Owens and Ziggler’s feud will end here, with another good match between them. Owens and Ziggler have a back and forth match, with Owens retaining the Intercontinental Championship.
AJ Styles vs. Chris JerichoAJ Styles’ first one-on-one Pay-Per-View match in WWE, Styles beat Jericho the night after the Rumble. Jericho has not been able to forget that, and has obsessed over it. In the match, Jericho and Styles have a candidate for Match of the Night, back and forth, a great match from start to finish. Jericho should tease a heel turn throughout the match, looking like he’ll use any means to defeat Styles. Eventually, Jericho turns heel and hits Styles with a chair while the ref’s back is turned. He then uses the Codebreaker to finish Styles off and get the 3 count.
Charlotte vs. Brie Bella - Divas ChampionshipIt should be announced before the match that this will be Brie’s last match in WWE, as she is leaving shortly. This was her decision, made before Daniel Bryan’s retirement. That will get fans invested in the match and want to see Brie win the title. Charlotte should underestimate Brie, with Brie getting the better of Charlotte early on. Charlotte begins to take it seriously, and takes control, but Brie gets control back and looks like she’s about to win. Ric Flair then distracts Brie, and Charlotte locks in the Figure Eight. Brie refuses to tap, and gets to the ropes. Brie then gets rolled up for a quick 3 count by Charlotte, who retains the title. Charlotte leaves Brie in the ring, as Daniel Bryan comes out, as they both perform one final Yes Chant.
Dean Ambrose vs. Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar - #1 Contenders match for WWE World Heavyweight Championship match at WrestleManiaBrock Lesnar should easily handle Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns at the start of the match, giving each of them multiple duplexes. Ambrose starts to fight back, and is soon followed by Roman Reigns. Ambrose and Reigns take Lesnar out, then fight each other. Lesnar soon gets back into the match, but it is more even between the three. Lesnar should hit an F5 on Ambrose and Reigns, and cover Reigns, who kicks out. Lesnar gets frustrated, and begins supplying Reigns repeatedly, ignoring Ambrose. Ambrose recovers and hits Lesnar with Dirty Deeds, and covers The Beast for two. Ambrose looks over to Reigns, who is recovering. Ambrose picks Lesnar up, and Reigns hits him with a Superman Punch, followed by a Spear. Ambrose and Reigns fight each other again, and Reigns Spears Ambrose, covers and gets two. Lesnar then gets back into the match, and takes out Ambrose. Lesnar turns his attention to Roman Reigns, but takes another Spear, and gets covered for three.
This is pretty much a Pay-Per-View WWE has thrown together and hoped to get some positive momentum going into WrestleMania. Unfortunately, I don’t see that happening, as this isn’t a very strong Pay-Per-View. So, in order to get as much as they can out of this Pay-Per-View, they should Book It!
