WCWF CRUSADE Saturday 10th February 2017
The time has finally arrived! There are 7,500 anxious, nosey fans packed in to ACC and you could cut the tension with a knife. Rene Young and Corey Graves are sat on position at the commentary booth. Graves look around the arena with a big smile and Rene brings us in, running through the match card for the evening when William Regal’s entrance music plays. The first pop of the night as a respectful one as the chief of WCWF walks down to the ring in typical Regal fashion to adulation and admiration from the West Coast faithful. He lifts his left hand in recognition of the fans respect for him as he joins Rene and Corey and puts on a headset. He informs them that there is nowhere he would rather be than sat in front of the action for the evening
6-Man Tag Team Match
Straight from the opening bell, The Vaudevillians rotate in turns to keep control over Darren Young. English tags in and forcefully chokes Young in the corner to the 4 count, breaking just in time. English stands to his feet and taunts to Titus and Galloway, antagonising them. This results in both men trying to get in the ring but the ref restraining them, allowing Gotch rake the eyes of Young as he squirms in pain on the canvas. Young is dragged up to a vertical base and propped in his team’s corner. A tag to Kruger makes him the legal man. After wasting a few minutes walking around the ring, Kruger sprints towards Young at high speed but Young ducks the assault. He stands up and strikes Kruger a couple of times with stiff rights, then bouncing off the ropes, only for Kruger to catch him with a menacing Spinebuster. Kruger attempts the cover but Young manages to power out at 2. Kruger brings in English off the tag and once again he is quick to taunt as he brings Darren up to one knee. He then points to Titus and imitates his bark, but Young slides under English’ leg and makes the tag to Titus. In he comes like a house and fire and lines up English, almost taking his head off with a big clothesline, then a second one for good measure. Titus seems to going for a third when he is blindsided by Gotch, but he eats a Fallaway Slam. Kruger is about to blindside Titus when Drew Galloway pulls him off the apron and a brawl ensues between both men. The ref is quickly losing control of this contest. Aiden English staggers back to his feet and eats a big boot from Titus. Galloway is back on the apron and is brought in off the tag. Kruger slouches on his side of the ring and simply watches as English eats a Future Shock DDT. The referee counts his shoulders to the mat for the 3 and Kruger leaves quickly, forgetting all about Gotch and English. Titus, Darren and Galloway all get their hands raised in victory as Kruger clutches his gut at the top of the ramp looking pissed that the scotsman has one upped him tonight WINNERS – Drew Galloway, Prime Time Players!
Singles Match
Cody Hall is in control in the early stages and has Corbin where he wants him. Hall winds Corbin with a stiff knee to the rib cage and applies an Abdominal stretch. Corbin reaches out looking for the ropes but he is not close enough and tries to work his way out of the hold. Finally, after a minute or so of the stretch being locked in, Corbin shunts his body weight forward enough to switch momentum and connect with a headbutt on Hall. The first one rocks him, but Corbin follows suit with a second that completely knocks the second gen superstar to the mat. Corbin gets up and shakes off the cobwebs, clutching at his side briefly. He doesn’t waste too much time before capitalising on the opportunity and driving a kick into the ribs of Hall. He lets out a scream of pain as Corbin now drives his boot directly into the throat. He ref is quick to spot the infringement and demands Corbin removes his foot. The ref gives Corbin and grilling who laughs and brushing the ref off. Corbin continues the evil attack and elbows Hall in the neck, attempting to lock in a dragon sleeper, but Hall resists, struggling to break free. He fights and struggles back up to his feet and is able to elbow Corbin to the gut to break his attempt of a submission, but is cut off completely when Corbin lands a huge big boot to Hall’s sternum, planting him to the mat once more. Corbin gets some solid heel heat for killing Hall’s momentum and holds his finger to his ear, angering the fans more as Corbin Sucks echoes through the arena. Corbin is keen to put this one to bed and locks a Sleeper Hold. Hall slowly starts to fade but the crowd rally behind him. The crowd fire up Hall enough to fight back and work his way out of the sleeper, elevating Corbin up and delivering a Sidewalk Slam. Both men are drained from slugging attacks but they pull themselves up once more and Hall brings down Corbin with a running shoulder tackle! The fans love it and Corbin looks rocked. Cody pulls him up and nails a solid DDT! Corbin gets a shoulder up at the two count and the fans boo loudly. Hall is calling for it. He suggests the end is near and is going to attempts the Razors Edge on Corbin. Hall gets him up in the Power Bomb position and folds him over the back into position! But he is unable land it when Corbin drops off the back and wraps his arms around the neck for the sleeper again! Hall fades slowly again and drops down to one knee and then to the floor. Corbin locks on the leg scissors too and this one looks like a formality now. The ref grabs Hall’s arm and checks if it’s going to drop to the mat, but he keeps his arm up and shifts his weight, forcing Corbin’s shoulders to the mat. The ref notices and counts to 3! Corbin is caught off guard and is pinned by his own weight. Hall slides under the bottom rope and has his hands raised. This one is over WINNER – Cody Hall!
Singles Match
Rowan is in total control. This is becoming hard to watch. Rowan stomps on Hernandez furiously repeatedly in a slow and systematic fashion. Rowan cracks his hands and stomps Hernandez into the corner of the ring and chokes Hernandez with his boot, looking over the ropes at Rosa Mendes. She shuffles closer to William Regal, grabbing his arm. Rowan stares coldly at her before continuing his assault. Rosa is heard through Regal’s headset asking why he is doing this. Rowan pulls up Hernandez and delivers multiple forearm strikes to the back. Hernandez collapses in pain and rolls over to his stomach in the centre of the ring. Rowan stalks him in a circle waiting to pounce. Hernandez finally attempts to get to his feet and begins to lift in press up position when Rowan punts Hernandez in the side of the temple. A sickening blow causes the crowd to wince and shriek in concern. Hernandez is on dream street and doesn’t know where he is, that much is clear from the look in his eyes. Rowan isn’t done and charges forward with another nasty punt to the temple, this time Hernandez falls flat and isn’t responding. The ref has to step and check on Hernandez. The ref is asking Hernandez if he can continue. It is clear that even if he musters a response, the match should be stopped, but that makes no difference to Rowan who delivers a few crafty stomps to the side of the head. The ref orders Rowan to stop and returns to Hernandez asking again, hazily, Hernandez just about manages to respond saying he’s okay. The ref reluctantly allows the match to continue and Rowan flies at him with a spin kick, driving the wind out of him. Then, Rowan lines up Hernandez for the third time before looking over to Rosa with those cold, calculated eyes and drives his boot into his temple again, causing Hernandez to collapse and crumple. The fans are in shock as Hernandez does not look good at all. The ref doesn’t even hesitate this time and calls for the bell, stopping the match, leaving Rowan as the winner WINNER – by way of referee stoppage, Erick Rowan
WCWF TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS Fatal Four Way Tornado Tag Team Match
Tornado Rules indeed. Gable and Jordan have managed to take out Haas and work over Benjamin in one corner of the ring. Across the ring, The Revival are working like a well-oiled machine, individually dealing with Nick and Matt. Shelton finds a break and manages to tip Gable to the outside and throws hands with Jordan. Both men exchange and throw bombs at each other, to the delight of the crowd who exchange boos and cheers with each strike. The Revival have dealt with Nick and Matt, disposing of them on the outside and turn their attention to the fight taking place in the centre of the ring. Dash takes out Shelton at the knee and Dawson throws Jordan to the outside. Gable aids his team mate and both men slide back into the ring, meanwhile Shelton has been on the receiving end of a Shatter Machine! But Gable and Jordan charge at The Revival. Dash drops the shoulder on Jordan and knocking him into the corner and Dawson grips Gable. Dash rejoins him and applies a Double Suplex to him, only for Jordan to catch him and lift him to safety, The Revival then get caught by The Young Bucks who take them out with Super Kicks, then Gable and Jordan meet the same fate with Superkicks too! The Young Bucks stand tall and see Haas and Benjamin stirring on the outside so they launch their air born attack and suicide dive, cleaning them out on the outside. The crowd explode with cheers in appreciation for the fast paced action. The Young Bucks shake off the after effects and enter the ring once more, looking to work over The Revival but Dash knees Nick straight to the jaw. Matt attempts to aid his brother but Dawson clean him out over the top rope with a brutal clothesline. Now the advantage is with The Revival who torture Nick with slaps and kicks, keeping him grounded. With the ring clear, they see the opportunity to deliver another Shatter Machine, but just as Nick is launched through the air in position, Gable is back in and rolls up Dawson from behind, almost getting the pin, only for him to kick out. Matt has got back up and helped his brother up, for both men to clothesline Gable over the top rope. But The Revival are back in the game and Nick gets launched over the top and Matt hasn’t got a chance, eating a Shatter Machine! Dawson goes to make the cover but Haas and Benjamin swoop in at the last minute, both men delivering kicks to Dash and Dawson, taking them out and rolling to the outside. Haas picks up the scraps and covers Matt…1..2..and 3! The World’s Greatest Tag Team have stolen the tag team titles! WINNERS – and inaugural WCWF Tag Team Champions, The Worlds Greatest Tag Team
Singles Match
This hugely anticipated bout and is under way. Both men play to the crowd to begin with and take turns seeing who can land the stiffest blow. After each exchange, Okada looks to have delivered the most damage. Finally, distance is created and Okada lands a forearm strike. He looks to follow up and deliver Heavy Rain but Finn counters, sliding off the shoulder. Okada grabs Finn at the waste but he powers off and drops back, hitting Okada square in the head with a deadly Pele Kick. Okada is rocked and stumbles back into the turnbuckle. Finn gets to his feet and dives in to the corner, landing one of his patterned corner dropkicks. The crowd come to life, chanting for Finn as and he feed off them. Okada steady's himself on the ropes and gets up and Finn charges towards him looking to connect with Sling Blade but Okada sends him running through, bouncing off the ropes and getting hit with a flawlessly executed Flapjack. Finn hits the mat hard and Okada wastes no time at all and attempts to lock in Red Ink. Finn struggles for a few moments but Okada lands a stiff strike to the back of the head and it's locked in. Finn seemingly has nowhere to go but begins slowly edging his way across the mat, as each moment passes the more is taken out of him, but his effort is rewarded as one giant reach see's him land a rope break. Okada is calculated with each attack and stalks Finn as he climbs to his feet. It looks like he's going to try and land Heavy Rain once more, but Finn is able to counter in mid air and lands on his feet. He ricochets off the ropes and levels Okada with a beautiful dropkick. He is straight back up and charges again with a second dropkick. Finn gets to one knee and strikes his signature demon pose and for lack of a better term, the crowd lose there shit! Finn grabs Okada by the back of the neck and hoists him up in to fireman's carry position and smashes a Princes Throne! Okada crumples and clutches him gut on the mat as Finn attempts the pinfall. But only a 2! The crowd are rocking! They are lapping up the incredible action. This time, Finn points to the top of the turnbuckle and it is clear what his intentions are! He leaps out with faith, looking to connect with the Coupe De Grace, but Okada shifts, seeing Finn's feet hit the mat. Thankfully, he lands on his feet but Okada has got to his feet with lightning quickness and hits Finn with his reverse neckbreaker! Finn is laid out on the mat and Okada goes for the victory, only for Finn to lift the shoulder on 2.999999. Now it's Okada's turn. He's lining up the top rope attack and a prone Finn is static. Okada dives out and successfully drives the elbow deep into Finn's chest! Surely that's it! The cover...NO! Another close call. But Finn's shoulder saves him at 2. This is madness. The place shaking with anticipation. Okada climbs aloft the corner again and is seemingly going to attempt a second straight Elbow Drop, but Finn is playing possum and grips the top rope to give extra leverage as he lands his enziguri. Okada is rocked and falls down to the mat from his perch. Finn pulls him up and signals that he's looking for the end! He's going for Bloody Sunday, but Okada only gets elevated half way up, slapping a lock on Finn's wrist, spinning around vigorously with a phenomenal looking counter and walking through landing a picture perfect lariat. The crowd goes absolutely potty for that exchange. Surely Okada has the match in the bag. He lays with his back on Finn's chest, holding his free hand to the sky with victory in sight as the other arm hooks Finn's Leg...1....2...Finn counters into the backslide...1....2....3! It's over! A crafty backslide from Finn and Okada is caught off guard following an absolute peach of a contest! WINNER – Finn Balor!
WCWF CHAMPIONSHIP Singles Match
Owens is relentless. His determination to be crowned the inaugural WCWF Champion is clear. Cody is subject to a good old fashion battering in the opening exchanges, which eventually results in a brawl to the outside after KO nails Cody with a clothesline over the top. KO bounces Cody's head off the ring apron like a basketball, talking trash to him in the process. He shoves a camera man out of the way as he scoops up Cody and sends him crashing into the barricade with a Fallaway Slam. Cody is in bad shape. KO shouts out to the crowd “Is this what you want?” and generates the strongest heat of the night, almost at nuclear level. KO grips Cody up, and slaps the taste out his mouth before laying him out on the ring apron this time, choking him violently. He then follows up with a flurry of punches and rolls Cody inside the ring. KO walks around the ring grinning sadistically to the fans. He points to himself and screams “This is your champion” Meanwhile, Cody struggles to get up, using the corner to aid him. KO rolls back under the ropes but Cody finds a second wind and leaps up to the second rope, catching KO flush with a glorious Disaster Kick. It almost looks like a tooth flies out and KO falls hard. Cody is eager to capitalise and tosses KO out over the top rope and knocks him down with a forearm. Cody climbs through and bounces off the ropes to Owens landing a Falling Star! The crowd pop and Cody rolls free and jumps up roaring passionately! The crowd respond in kind and he's back on the attack. Cody rolls KO back in and follows, lifting him to a vertical base. Cody lands a swift chop, then another before dropping to his back and landing his brother's trademark uppercut. KO falls back into the turnbuckle resting on the corner for support. Cody climbs up the post along side him and it looks like he's going for Diamond Dust! He locks the jaw and floats over but KO pushes Cody straight through and counters. He falls hard and clutches his back on the mat, but now KO is back in charge and throws Cody into the floor at the bottom of the corner. He stomps down painfully about 20 consecutive times until he needs a breather. But he's straight back on the offence, driving the wind out of Cody with a cannonball! He drags Cody's lifeless body to the centre of the ring and attempts the cover...1...2...No, not yet! Cody is still in this one. KO is seeing red now, and he wants this match put to bed. Owens hoists up Cody and executes a move we haven't seen him perform in 3 years! F-Cinq! That Spinout Firemans Carry Facebuster looked brutal. KO isn't ready to attempt the cover yet, so he heads for the corner and follows the double jump with one of his breath taking moonsaults! The crowd explode and hit fever pitch. The cover....But yet again, the fighting spirit in Cody Rhodes is not ready to give in, edging out of the cover at the last dying second. KO is visibly pissed and pulls up Cody who can't support himself. KO screams something at him, but Cody drops down and rolls up Owen's with a school boy! But that quick cover only caught Owens for 2! Furiousy, he gets to his feet and punches Cody's lights out with a legit looking strike, proceeding to level him with Package Piledriver! That must be it! Cover from Owens....2...and no! Once again, Cody stays alive in this one! Owens punches the mat in anger and grabs the referee screaming abuse. Cody is up, Cody is up and spots the opportunity! He grabs a distracted Owens from behind and looks for Cross Rhodes! But Owens wriggles free and shoves Cody into the ropes, as he bounces back, KO lifts Cody up into the air and looks for the Pop-up Powerbomb! But Cody graciously twists his body in mid air and lands behind Owens facing his back, that was incredible and for the second time tonight, the crowd completely lose there shit! Cross Rhodes, Cross Rhodes! He drove him straight to the mat! The pin...1....2....3! Cody Rhodes has done it! He has won the WCWF Championship! WINNER – and inaugural WCWF Champion, Cody Rhodes!
As confetti falls, Cody collapses with joy. Chants of "You deserve it" break out among the fans and they cheer loudly to show their appreciation to Cody. William Regal removes his headset and stands up clapping for a few minutes, finally he grabs the title laid out on the announce desk in front of him before jumping in the ring with Cody. Regal hugs Cody for a minute, seemingly whsipering words about his father. Cody thanks Regal and is presented with the WCWF Championship, which he holds up to a thunderous roar! Regal leaves the ring but Kevin Owens is back up to his feet. He gets in the ring and a stare down takes place. After a few moments, Cody extends his hand to Owens. He just stares at the hand and looks up to Cody, he seems to mouth "I respected your father, but I don't respect you" Owens then barges past Cody, shouldering him as he exits the ring. Cody retracts his hand rubs his jaw as Owens leaves. The music then continues and Cody forgets about the exchange, enjoying his moment and holding up his new WCWF Championship

Okay, so must I begin by saying this was a great PPV, well worth the wait, and what I'm about to say is a few things perhaps I would've done differently.. The first is the most obvious, perhaps some breaks between matches. I know some like to do interviews leading into matches later in the night, but thinking you don't want to go that route, I think it would've been crucial to have post-match scenes in the ring. For example, after Cody Hall gets the victory over Baron Corbin, what is Baron Corbin's reaction? What's Erick Rowan doing after his dominating performance, and is Hernandez getting medical attention? What's the feeling after the Okada and Balor match? ... I see post-match scenes as crucial to storytelling, especially early on to help establish what you're trying to sell. If you're going for a WWE Network special or a NJPW show feel (no interviews/backstage skits) that's fine, but there's something to be said after the bell sounds. You did this with the main event perfectly, but it'd help to care more about the other storylines and rivalries if the same was done there, even just a couple sentences. The other is just who won the tag team titles, and how they won. It's not about The Revival or The Young Bucks, who I would've loved to have won, but I want to talk about the roles in the closing moments. If the best overall actress gets the lead role, but someone else is a better fit for what that specific role calls for, it doesn't go over as well... If I did it your way, I place a younger heel tag team winning in that fashion, perhaps pulling Benjamin or Haas away from their titles. I'd be thinking that Benjamin and Haas are the veterans and they're easily better faces than any of the others could be, solely based on the fans loving them still going. The Revival or the Young Bucks would be more of a fit for that specific role, in my mind, than Benjamin and Haas ... But that's just how I feel, and your creative direction is more than okay, but I just wanted to give my creative input. Despite the tag team match, everything else went well. You established Erick Rowan as a monster, you established Cody Hall as a viable competitor in the ring, and you established Cody Rhodes as a main-event level player. These are things, perhaps, I couldn't have done as well. Plus you booked Owens perfectly afterwards (going back to post-match scenes) and he looks to be your ideal heel, who you can plug in and gain heat off anybody. Really well done! Overall a great job, and I can tell you put a lot into this, so I'm looking forward to what's up next on the menu!

Overall a great job, and I can tell you put a lot into this, so I'm looking forward to what's up next on the menu! First off thank you for the review brother, I really appreciate you taking the time to read and review, that means a lot to me! So I'll address the real problem with this, I gave up if I'm honest. I lost my initial write up, not once, not twice but count them, 3 times because I was a moron and tried writing up the show in my post rather than using microsoft word. I am a moron haha. So finally I started writing up my matches over the weekend and after chopping and changing my decision in the 2 main events so much, finally getting a finished show,I completely canned filler segments just to get the show up. I had Rowan chasing Rosa off and spooking her, fall out for Corbin/Hal and a few other segments, but I just gave up and focused on posting the show, so my bad on that one, my next few shows will make up and compensate my laziness on that one Secondly I get exactly what you mean about WGGT, but with a limited roster, I want to truly build up to more deserved champions. To a degree, WGGT are transitional champions, regardless of alignment status, they are temporary holders until a more deserved team steps up making it more meaningful. But again, I appreciate your feedback, it means alot that you took the time man! I'm glad you enjoyed the rest and this thread will have really big things in the pipeline. You will not be disappointed with what follows
