So, in the 2017-2018 Season, the Las Vegas Kings ended up with the 7th seed in the West after firing Head Coach Michael Goodrich halfway through the season and then hiring Mike Budenholzer at the All-Star break. Their record was 45-37 and were up against the LA Clippers in the first round. The Clippers gained a 3-1 lead in the series but in Clipper fashion, lost the series in 7 games after a Game 7 comeback victory for DeMarcus Cousins and the Kings. The Kings were then up against the 6th seed Utah Jazz who had just come off of taking out the 3rd seed Golden State Warriors in the First Round. The Las Vegas Kings then went through yet another grueling 7 game series as they beat the Utah Jazz to move on to the Western Conference Finals to take on Kevin Durant and the 1st seed Oklahoma City Thunder.

The Las Vegas Kings lost to the eventual champs Oklahoma City Thunder in 7 games but showed a lot of heart and that they could be taken seriously in the Western Conference. Now, it's time for the offseason. The very first thing they do is trade Rajon Rondo and Omri Casspi to the San Antonio Spurs for the 13th overall pick of the draft and the Pelicans' 2020 1st Round pick in a move that secures them assets for the future and clears up to 17 million dollars off of their books. The 13th pick via San Antonio almost immediately gets traded to the Hornets with Anthony Bennett for Charlottes 2019 and 2020 first rounders. The Kings make their final trade before the draft as they trade Jonathan Carr(a 68 overall sophomore SG) and Isaiah Canaan for Norric Cole from the Pelicans. The Kings opted to not sign their two second round rookies. The Kings accepted Stanley Johnson's 3.94M Team option but declined on Patrick Beverly's 5.03M Team option thus leaving them with 39.75M to spend in Free Agency.

Sooo I'm pissed and quitting this Las Vegas Kings MyLeague. Paul George was set to become a free agent and declined his player option only to sign a 5 year deal with the Pacers before ever hitting the open market. That is dumb. This always happens, you can never get a big name in free agency because they always re-sign before Free Agency. Realistically, that almost never happens. Ugh, the game never lets you sign Durant either. DAMMIT! I SOLD SO MANY ROLE PLAYERS FOR NOTHING!

So I went through the NBA Postseason and ended up having the easiest path to a 3rd straight title. Why? Because the 7th-seed Hawks faced me in the ECF, and then the 7th-seed Jazz made it out of the West. Kinda upset it wasn't believable at all, but oh well, I'll take it. Goran Dragic got his second straight Finals MVP, so it makes it hard to let him go, but his contract does expire after this season, so that's the good thing... I'll post my current roster after letting JR Smith and Norman Powell walk in free agency, as well as a 2nd-round bum PF Louis Halston.
PG Goran Dragic - starter PG Tyus Jones SG Dwyane Wade - starter SG Rudy Phelps SG Timmy Carr - rookie SF Justise Winslow - starter SF Andre Igoudala - newly acquired in FA SF Terrence Ross PF Chris Bosh - starter PF Jared Sullinger C Warren Jefferson - starter C Bryce Copeland C Archie Haynes - rookie
After this year, I could lose Dragic and Wade, who are both aging out, as well as Tyus Jones who doesn't even have a player/team option. Overall wise, Tyus Jones has a higher overall than Dragic but I'm still starting my Finals MVP, while Wade/Phelps/Carr are each separated by a point in overall. After just the first game of the season, it looks like Terrence Ross has taken a major step back, but we'll see how it goes. Fortunately, both Carr and Haynes (rookies) looked great, so I don't believe my draft picks will be a problem. Unfortunately, I now have a crowded 2 and 5 spot, so I don't know how it will measure up.
So in short, here's who I am questioning their status for next season: Dragic Jones Wade Igoudala Ross Sullinger Copeland
Although I'm 80 games away from that, if I lose just Dragic OR Wade, I can pop Rudy Phelps in the other place if need be. The real problem is finding backups for the SF and PF spot if something doesn't shape out, considering nobody's really a great fit to fill either role. Jefferson has the ability to play PF, but I think I need him as my starter more than anything.
Here's to a 4-Peat!
(EDIT: Notable names in different places) James Harden signed with Brooklyn Jimmy Butler traded to Philadelphia, Jahlil Okafor to Chicago Zach Randolph to the Lake Show Isaiah Thomas to Atlanta
