The United States and definitely Canada flopped this year. Like, wow!! Haven't been this shocked in forever. 7th for Canada in hockey?? C'MON MAN!!

All Nations Cup executives have announced that the 2017 tournament in Vienna/Innsbruck will feature a 16 team single elimination tournament rather than a group stage and playoff round. The format will be reevaluated prior to the 2018 tournament.

Russia trounces Belarus to advance to quarterfinals
VIENNA - Belarus stood almost no chance as Russia dominated them from the opening puck drop and ended up defeating them 9-1 to advance their way into the quarterfinals.

France upsets the Czechs, will face defending champs
VIENNA - In what was the biggest upset in recent history, the French team managed to overcome a 2-0 deficit to defeat the Czech Republic by a score of 3-2 in overtime to advance to the quarterfinals where they will face the defending Gold medalists, Russia.

Kaner plays hero as USA overcomes Switzerland
VIENNA - Switzerland looked as though they were en route to upsetting the United States and sending them home from Austria early but it was not the case as Patrick Kane scored twice in the third to top the Swiss team 4-2.

The Kazakhs try but fail, Denmark advances
VIENNA - The Kazakh team tried extremely hard to take out the Danes but the Danish team were able to overcome and managed to defeat Kazakhstan 5-3 to advance to the next round.

Home team goes down in the first round as the Swedes advance
INNSBRUCK - The home team, Austria had a rather terrible draw for the first round as they had to play Sweden. The Swedes began their domination early en route to a 6-2 victory to advance to the next round.

Finland begins journey to Gold medal with big victory
INNSBRUCK - Two time Bronze medal winning Finland began it's journey to it's first Gold medal against last year's Cinderella team Norway and defeated them by a 5-2 score to advance to the next round.

Italy shows that they can play hockey with the best of them
INNSBRUCK - Many analysts expected Latvia to run circles around the usually less than stellar Italian team but that was not the case as Italy and Latvia put on a good little show that saw Italy win 6-3 to advance to the next round.

INNSBRUCK - Canada dominated Germany early and often throughout the game and finished with a 7-2 score for the victory to get into the quarterfinals where they look to redeem themselves after a 7th place finish last year.

Going for two consecutive Gold, Russia dominates France
INNSBRUCK - It looked like an NHL All-Star game out on the ice at least for the Russian squad as they completely demolished France 13-1 to advance to the semifinals.

INNSBRUCK - The United States returned to medal contention once again as they routed the Danish team 6-2 to advance to the semifinals where they will play the defending champions Russia.

Finland continues march towards Gold but loses star player
VIENNA - Finland continued their march towards their first Gold medal but defeating the once dominant Swedish team 5-3. In the process, however, they lost star player Mikael Granlund to injury and he will miss the remainder of the tournament.
