Canada nearly goes down but survives in OT
RIGA - Canada was nearly upset by Austria in their first round game but managed to hold on a take the game to overtime where Dany Heatley scored the game winning goal to win the game 4-3 and advance to the quarterfinals.

Latvia pushes Russia to the brink, Russia survives late onslaught
RIGA - Latvia gave Russia a solid run for their money and brought it late in the third period but Russia managed to survive and win 5-4 to advance to the semifinals.

Norway came to play, wipe the floor with Slovakia
RIGA - Norway showed that they want the championship this year when they absolutely dominated Slovakia from the opening puck drop and won the game 6-2 to advance to the semifinals.

Dominance personified, Sweden advances to semis
RIGA - The United States looked extremely weak in comparison to the overpowered Swedish squad as Sweden showed how dominant they truly are and came away with a 7-3 victory to advance to the semifinals.

RIGA - Canada fell out of medal contention after collapsing late in the second where they never recovered and Finland took control to win the game 5-2 to advance to the semifinals.

RIGA - Norway tried their hardest but were vanquished by the two-time defending champions Russia who defeated them 5-1 to advance to their third straight finals.

Sweden wins Bronze, sends Norway home empty handed
RIGA - Norway struggled early on and never really recovered as Sweden dominated and ended up winning the game and the Bronze medal by a final score of 6-2.

Finland has done it! They are on top of the hockey world!
RIGA - Finland finally accomplished what was 4 years in the making as they defeated the defending champions Russia 4-3 in overtime to capture their first ever Gold medal and Russia is sent home with only a Silver.

Oh wow, Finland finally got out of 3rd place for 3 straight years. Surprised to see Canada has yet to win gold, and the United States hasn't done anything much at all after the first year. Can we get some more going on before the week's over? Of course! Will be announcing the 2019 host in a few moments.
