So instead of releasing Brandon Carr this offseason and eating the dead money, we convince Carr to take a pay-cut and remain on the team.
Carr is an okay cornerback who has never been worth that amount of money, which makes me okay the Redskins spent top-dollar on Josh Norman. But anyway, Carr's not played to the money at all, and honestly hasn't played to the level of being a starting corner in this league. I honestly hope Scandrick comes back as in pre-injury form, coming back from a torn ACL in the preseason, because we'll need it. In the meantime, I can withstand the trio of Scandrick, Claiborne, and Carr at cornerback, while Byron Jones, Barry Church, and JJ Wilcox help out at safety... Only if we could get these guys less time chasing around receivers like Beckham, Cruz, Jackson, we'd be better off. If you look at all the great cornerbacks, though they are great at what they do, they also have help from the trenchmen. With Dallas not re-signing Greg Hardy (rightfully so), and with both Randy Gregory AND Demarcus Lawrence suspended the first 4 games, we're down to Jack Crawford and Benson Mayowa as our starting defensive ends, while they're only meant to be in the rotation.
Dallas NEEDS to draft Joey Bosa. People are worried about his "ceiling", but come on, the guy has a high motor and he's a perfect fit for what Dallas wants to do. I know Lawrence's suspension was because of prescribed meds from his surgery, but we can't trust Randy Gregory who hasn't dumped Mary Jane yet, and that is what I worried with before last year's draft, that Gregory isn't dedicated to football as he should - when Bosa loooooves football and loves to compete.
It's Bosa or trade down for Dallas, in which they could still probably get Bosa if they trade down 3 or 4 spots.

So, I figured since I did a mock draft earlier, I'd post my Top 5 at each position (excluding Kickers and Punters). As with any Top 5 list, my rankings are probably different from others. No love for Jeremy Cash, Professor Berch? C'mon man!! And I have to ask... Why Treadwell down at 3?? To me, he just doesn't read as well as the other two. I've seen Josh Doctson play, and to me, he's easily the #1 Receiver in the class. Corey Coleman, while only being 5'11", plays better than Treadwell, at least in what I look for. Treadwell may well end up being a new Calvin Johnson, but Josh Doctson could be that as well, and he plays with more speed than Treadwell.

Doctson, from what I've seen, is an overall better receiver than Treadwell is. Speed, route-running, big play ability, its all there with Doctson.

Watched North Dakota State's FCS title game this afternoon, Carson Wentz's final game... I had the bug hit my windshield that this guy could very well be the biggest bust in the whole draft.
Many love the body, the build, and his winning attitude, but until you watch a North Dakota State game, a CHAMPIONSHIP game, and see just how slow the game actually is, it's miles apart from the NFL, and the FBS even. You hear all the time about the "speed of the game", but it's unreal how much of a difference. There were several plays that game I was thinking if it was in the NFL, Wentz is sacked or is forced into throwing the ball away.. It just came baffling to me.
But anyway, I don't know which quarterback will go where, but I feel Wentz would have better transition to the NFL by going to the Rams at 1, simply because there's an offensive line in front of him and a running back behind him, while in Philadelphia there's neither of those things... But even in that scenario, I don't know if Carson Wentz will ever live up to being a first round pick.

Philadelphia has improved their offensive line, and quite honestly, the Rams' line isn't really THAT good. Ryan Mathews and Darren Sproles make a good combo, but definitely not on the level of Todd Gurley. As for Wentz's game, while I didn't watch the game, you may be able to attribute that to the offensive line talent and the wide receivers not being able to get open. In the NFL, with at least slightly better protection and slightly better receivers, he should be able to get it out quicker. The downside for him going to the Rams rather than Philly would be that Philly has better pieces in place in the passing game. With Jordan Matthews, Zach Ertz, Brent Celek, and Nelson Agholor compared to Brian Quick, Tavon Austi, Kenny Britt, and Lance Kendricks, Philly will give him a better opportunity to get the ball out in a timely manner.

Not saying a great receiving core doesn't matter, but I'd take an offensive line and a solid defense over receiving core any day of the week, probably twice on Sundays. This is coming from a Cowboys fan, who has Dez Bryant, Jason Witten, and others who are very capable of being threats when they wanna be, who'd prefer a #1 defense (though I love Dez and Witten). Look at Russell Wilson, for example. He came in with a superior defense, but not many weapons on the outside. Saying Percy Harvin is your #1 was a long way from Dez Bryant, Calvin Johnson, Demaryius Thomas, Brandon Marshall, Julio Jones... you get the point. Now speaking of defenses, I don't know how great LA's will be considering they gave up their veterans, let Janoris Jenkins walk to the Giants, and so forth. What I do know, is offensively they have the offense to make a rookie quarterback's transition easier. STL Offensive Line > PHI Offensive Line STL Receiving Core < PHI Receiving Core STL Running Backs > PHI Running Backs STL Defense ... PHI Defense (jury still out) So with Philly having only the better receiving core, I'd say it'll be easier for the #1 pick rather than the #2... Not even going to mention the track record of quarterbacks who go 1 and 2 in the draft, looking at Peyton Manning and Ryan Leaf, then also Andrew Luck and RG3. That creepy fact doesn't mean anything in this instance, or last year's even, but it's freaky.

It works sometimes, but generally, the #1 pick will fare better. I'd say with a couple of additions, Philly's offensive line will be better. The Rams' can run block well, but doesn't do too well in pass protection, despite not letting up many sacks. Numbers can be deceiving there. Finally, with the defenses, right now I'd say they're about even. It really all depends on the draft, but I have confidence in the Eagles' defense this coming year.
