What does Doug Collins have to do with this? Former Spurs assistant under Pop who went to coach a young, rebuilding team... So the Lakers would be getting the same model of a head coach. Are you sure about that?

Oh I know, I was missing the right name ... lol, sorry bout that, I was in bed and don't know why I got to thinking about Doug Collins I meant to say Brett Brown, who came after Collins. Anyway, former Spurs assistant BRETT BROWN under Pop who went to coach a young, rebuilding team... So the Lakers would be getting the same model of a head coach.

Brett Brown wasn't given much of a team to work with. I'm honestly surprised they didn't lose more games than they did. 2. Brett Brown doesn't have the experience that Ettore Messina does. Messina has won multiple championships in the Euroleague along with being an assistant to Coach Poppovich. You know who else was an assistant under Pop? Mike Budenholzer. Look what he became.

But Budenholzer had a veteran team, a team more built for playoff success. And btw, Brown wasn't given much of a team to work with, you're right, but what do the Lakers have? They're just as young and inexperienced, though have tremendous upside, the coach who does inherit this team will need a while.

The Lakers have had a weird mix of young players and veterans who can mentor the young players such as Kobe, MWP, Lou Will, Brandon Bass, Carlos Boozer and more. Coach Bud does have a team of veterans but I'm not trying to say that whatever coach they hire will get them to the promise land. It's about finding the best coach available and I honestly believe Messina can establish a winning culture and a winning system on the court.

Really hope the Clippers can close out the Blazers quickly so they can get to the series against the Warriors and take advantage of Curry being out but it's not looking good as the Blazers lead 91 - 79 with 2:23 left.

Chris Paul broke his hand tonight... It's not looking good there. So who are you wanting to win the Finals?

Oh well I wasn't paying attention until just now I was hoping for something like a Clippers vs Cavs finals but I guess that isn't happening. Honestly, I'm hoping for an exciting Finals that does not include Golden State. I would be happy with a Spurs vs Cavs/Heat/Pacers Finals.

Eh, if Golden State can survive Curry's sprain, they will be the champions, which I'll be fine with. Really don't want Cleveland or Oklahoma City to win.

I don't know if Roy Hibbert will be, and we obviously know Kobe Bryant is retiring. But anyway.. Saw on Facebook where Colin Cowherd wants John Calipari to coach the Lakers. We know this will never happen on the sunniest day on earth, but let's just take a second to imagine such happening.

Brandon Bass is gone. A common subject here in LA is how Jim Buss(Lakers part owner and President) said he would step down if the Lakers aren't contending in three years... That was two years ago which makes this upcoming season his last chance before Jeanie Buss basically fires him. The front office is feeling the heat and will try to force something this offseason. They also want to create a new identity now that Kobe is gone. I saw the Calipari thing and we all know he isn't leaving Kentucky and if he does he'll want a Thibadeau/Doc Rivers kinda deal where he is a GM and Coach. Lakers will never give that much power to anyone.

Because he was there as Golden State was rebuilding this team, knows how to build a contender for this day in age, and he lets the players use their strengths. Plus, it'd take Walton away from the Warriors and anyone else who would potentially want him. And honestly, Walton is 'Plan B', considering Thibs went to Minnesota. And I agree, those GM/Coach deals are absurd and would never do that. (ie. Chip Kelly with the Eagles, and it's always a disaster)

He was not there when the Warriors rebuilt, he's been there just as long as Kerr has. I don't think Walton is responsible for the Warriors great start to the season. He was simply executing Steve Kerr's plan with a group of great players. Can he develop these young guys? I don't know. Can he win as thee head coach with lesser players? I don't know. Of course he could be a great coach but I'm just not sold. I'd almost be more willing to pick up Mark Jackson over him if it weren't for the rumors of Mark Jackson pitting his own players against each other.
