CLEVELAND BROWNS ~ REBUILDING A FRANCHISEThe Cleveland Browns first came into existence in 1946 as a part of the All-America Football Conference (AAFC). Their first regular season game, they defeated the Miami Seahawks 44-0. This started their era of dominance in the AAFC. Before long, the NFL’s Cleveland Rams moved to Los Angeles, leaving the Browns as Cleveland’s only football team. The Browns went undefeated in 1948, but the AAFC soon became defunct due to the war over players between AAFC and NFL teams. Because of this, the Browns’ undefeated season, which did not happen against NFL teams, or even in the NFL, is not in the NFL’s record books. The Cleveland Browns joined the NFL after the AAFC disbanded. The Browns’ season opener was against the two time defending champion Philadelphia Eagles, in which the Browns won 35-10. In 1950, the Browns went 10-2, and went to the NFL Championship game against the LA Rams, and won 30-28. After 5 years of titles, the Browns finally lost to the Tams 24-17. The following seasons were disappointments for the team, as while they had a great team and the record to show, they could not win the Championship game. The Browns were then sold, leaving the future up in the air. Since these heralded days, the Browns have won 3 championships, in 1954, 1955 and 1964. The Browns have yet to even appear in a Super Bowl game. From the heights of NFL success, to Jim Brown, to the “Kardiac Kids,” the Browns have a rich history. It then disappointed fans when the team moved to Baltimore and became the Ravens. Three years later, the Browns returned and have not able to find success. The Cleveland Browns are a team in rebuild mode, and with many of their stars leaving the team via free agency this year, they need all the help they can get.

CLEVELAND BROWNS SEASON PREVIEWThe 2015 season was not one the Browns would like to remember. After a respectable 7-9 season in 2014, the Browns dropped to 3-13 in 2015, and got themselves the 2nd Overall Pick. The Browns would make some draft trades with the Philadelphia Eagles, trading down to #8, and trading again with the Titans to #13, and drafted WR Corey Coleman. Still clearly in a rebuild, the trade with the Eagles yielded themselves a second first round pick in this year’s draft, as well as a second round pick in next year’s, while the Titans trade got them a second round pick this year. This year’s schedule is as follows: PRESEASON
Week 1: @ Green Bay Packers Week 2: vs. Atlanta Falcons Week 3: @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers Week 4: vs. Chicago Bears
REGULAR SEASON
Week 1: @ Philadelphia Eagles Week 2: vs. Baltimore Ravens Week 3: @ Miami Dolphins Week 4: @ Washington Redskins Week 5: vs. New England Patriots Week 6: @ Tennessee Titans Week 7: @ Cincinnati Bengals Week 8: vs. New York Jets Week 9: vs. Dallas Cowboys Week 10: @ Baltimore Ravens Week 11: vs. Pittsburgh Steelers Week 12: vs. New York Giants Week 13: Bye Week Week 14: vs. Cincinnati Bengals Week 15: @ Buffalo Bills Week 16: vs. San Diego Chargers Week 17: @ Pittsburgh Steelers There are questions about this year’s Browns squad, perhaps the biggest is at Quarterback. How will Robert Griffin III play after sitting out a year in Washington behind Kirk Cousins and Colt McCoy? Will new Head Coach Hue Jackson be able to lead this team in the right direction? There are still holes all over this team, and the Browns will attempt to patch those holes in the coming years.

So, in this booker, the preseason will be done the same way as the Rams Sim series (although I'll be playing the games). Regular Season will be done in full, and Postseason will depend on whether or not I make it, and how far I go.

CLEVELAND BROWNS PRESEASON
WEEK 1:
-The Cleveland Browns’ 2016 Preseason begins in Green Bay, Wisconsin against the Green Bay Packers. As this is Preseason, this game will mainly be used to scout the current roster and see who needs trimming from the roster. -The Browns are expected to make trade moves, but whether or not that comes to fruition will be seen. -The Cleveland Browns def. the Green Bay Packers 30-27. In the first quarter, where the starters played, the Browns surprisingly outplayed the Packers. Afterwards, it was more of an even game. RG3 ended the day 4/4 with 87 yards and 2 touchdowns. Josh McCown went 6/8 for 61 yards in the second quarter, and Cody Kessler went 7/10 for 61 yards in the second half. Raheem Mostert played the entire second half, and got 71 yards on 24 carries, with a touchdown and a fumble. Duke Johnson Jr. got 4 carries for 54 yards, a TD and a fumble. Crowell averaged 4 YPC in his 3 carries. Rookie TE Seth DeValve was the lead receiver, getting 5 receptions for 44 yards. Terrelle Pryor got 32 yards on 3 catches. Corey Coleman got 2 catches for 52 yards and a touchdown, while Andrew Hawkins got 1 reception for 21 and a touchdown. Defensively, Emmanuel Ogbah and John Hughes III each got a sack, while Armonty Bryant and Carl Nassib split one. Rookie Derrick Kindred, along with Justin Gilbert and K’Waun Williams, all got interceptions.Travis Coons missed an Extra Point during the game, which won’t play in his favor. Overall, this was a very positive game that showed Cleveland’s starters can hang. -The Browns must cut 2 players. They are TE Charley Hughlett and MLB Dominique Alexander.
WEEK 2
-After last week’s win over the Green Bay Packers, the Browns come back to Cleveland to take on the Atlanta Falcons. -The Browns placed a number of players on the trade block last week, but as of now, there are no takers on any of those players. -The Cleveland Browns def. the Atlanta Falcons 28-14. RG3 ended his day 7/9 for 94 yards and a touchdown. Josh McCown, in the second quarter, went 10/11 for 119 yards and a touchdown, while Cody Kessler went 3/4 for 38 yards. Raheem Mostert had a good day, getting 61 yards on 15 carries and 2 touchdowns. Duke Johnson got 55 yards on 12 carries, as well as 35 yards on a screen play. Isaiah Crowell got 21 yards on 3 carries. Marlon Moore, Seth DeValve and Josh Gordon all got 3 receptions, with Moore and Gordon getting touchdowns. Armonty Bryant got the only sack on the day, and there were no interceptions. Tramon Williams forced and recovered a fumble. -The Browns must cut 4 players. These players are CB Eric Patterson, TE Randall Telfer, CB Trey Caldwell, and WR Terrelle Pryor. -The Browns place WR Marlon Moore on Injured Reserve with a Broken Collarbone.
WEEK 3
-The 2-0 Browns hit the road again against the 1-1 Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Take this record with a grain of salt, however, as the Preseason isn’t a true measure of a team’s ability. -The Browns go another week with no offers on their trade block players, and may look to make their own moves if another week goes by with none. -The Cleveland Browns def. the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 24-6. RG3 finished his day 3/5 for 60 yards. Josh McCown went 3/6 for 21 yards, and Cody Kessler went 6/12 for 78 yards and 2 touchdowns. Raheem Mostert got 48 yards on 13 carries, while Duke Johnson got 4 YPC. Isaiah Crowell only got 3 yards on 3 carries. Ricardo Louis was the lead receiver, getting 4 catches for 34 yards and 2 touchdowns. Rookie Carl Nassib got 2 sacks, while Barkeviovs Mingo got 1, and Don Jones split one with K’Waun Williams. Justin Tiggle and Pierre Desir both got interceptions, while Armonty Bryant returned a fumble 84 yards for a touchdown. -The Browns must cut 5 players. These players are TE E.J. Gibbs, WR Jordan Payton, WR Rashard Higgins, CB Charles Gaines, and QB Austin Davis.
WEEK 4
-The 3-0 Browns return to Cleveland for the final week of Preseason, as they take on the 0-3 Chicago Bears. -The Cleveland Browns trade WR Josh Gordon to the San Francisco 49ers for a 2018 2nd Round Pick (Currently projected as #35) and a 2018 7th Round Pick (Currently Projected as #195). The Browns sign WR Marques Colston to a 1 Year, $3.2M Contract. This is seen as Cleveland replacing what they saw as a locker room distraction. -The Chicago Bears def. the Cleveland Browns 16-10 in Overtime. RG3 ended the day 3/4 for 48 yards. Josh McCown went 6/12 for 60 yards and a touchdown, and Cody Kessler went 4/14 for 42 yards, but was mostly plagued by drops. He also threw 2 interceptions, one of which was an excellent defensive play. Raheem Mostert got 34 yards on 10 carries and a fumble, while Isaiah Crowell got 23 yards on 9 carries, along with a fumble. Seth DeValve got 2 receptions for 16 yards and a touchdown. Armonty Bryant got 1/5 sacks, while Jamie Meder, Carl Nassib, Don Jones, Emmanuel Ogbah, and Joe Schobert all got half a sack each. The Browns did not intercept any passes. REGULAR SEASON WEEK 1
NEWS
-USC has added a speedy new WR. Johnathan McWilliams was formerly a sprinter, but will be trying his hand in the football program.
KEY GAME STORYLINES
-The Cleveland Browns begin the 2016 season on the road against the Philadelphis Eagles.
-The Browns have a multitude of rookies that they hope to get production out of for years to come. WR Corey Coleman will be starting on the opposite side of Marques Colston. Emmanuel Ogbah and Carl Nassib are two pass rushers that have potential, as well as OT Shon Coleman. QB Cody Kessler will be the #3 QB on the depth chart, but could develop into a starter. S Derrick Kindred played well in preseason, but will be a backup. TE Seth DeValve is the #2 Tight End, and will look at some reps.
-The Browns will be walking into this game with one injury, WR Marlon Moore, who is on short term IR, but will likely remain on the IR unless he’s needed. The Eagles walk into the game with 3 injuries, RE Bryan Braman, Rookie HB Wendell Smallwood, and TE Brent Celek. Rookie Carson Wentz is getting the start over both Sam Bradford and Chase Danie, as he will have Ryan Mathews, Darren Sproles, Jordan Matthews, Zach Ertz, and Rueben Randle as his main weapons. Their defensive line is stacked, with Connor Barwin and Vinny Curry on one side, Brandon Graham on the other, and Fletcher Cox and Bennie Logan manning the middle. Mychal Kendricks, Jordan Hicks and Nigel Bradham are their 3 linebackers. Their secondary is spotty, as the corners are weak, but the safeties are not. Eric Rowe and Nolan Carroll II will start, along with Malcolm Jenkins and Rodney McLeod Jr. The Browns will hope for a poor season from the Eagles, as they have their first round from the Carson Wentz trade.

POST GAME REPORT
The game started off on the side of the Browns, if getting to 14 points was not done traditionally. Starting with a field goal, the team got a safety, then a touchdown, with a missed extra point. Another field goal got the team to 14. The Browns took a commanding 21-7 lead in the third quarter, but the Eagles mounted a spectacular comeback, including an interception and a fumble in order to get to the tie. RG3 almost threw a second interception, but it was brought back with a defensive holding call. On the next play, Isaiah Crowell fumbled, which was recovered by the Eagles, leading to the tying score. RG3 was unspectacular and inconsistent, and lead the Browns to a first loss. However, it is rather fitting that Cleveland’s first touchdown on the year was a run from RG3.

REGULAR SEASON WEEK 2
NEWS
-Notre Dame ROLB Vorheese Smallwood is a student of the game. Since he could walk, he has been on the sidelines of games with his father.
KEY GAME STORYLINES
-After a disappointing defeat last week, the Cleveland Browns play their first home game of the season against the 1-0 Baltimore Ravens.
-The Browns had the lead on the Eagles, but they allowed a comeback, and the game went to overtime, where the Browns lost. The Browns will be hoping for a better outing from Quarterback Robert Griffin III. RG3 ended the game with a 45% completion percentage, and did not have his best outing.
-The Browns enter the game with no significant injuries, just WR Marlon Moore on the IR. The Ravens enter with two small injuries, RE Brent Urban and backup QB Ryan Mallett. Joe Flacco will be the quarterback this week, and he’ll have some good weapons. Justin Forsett broke out 2 years ago, and will look to repeat that season. WR Steve Smith Sr. returns to the team after a torn achilles in what was supposed to be his last year. Mike Wallace and Kamar Aiken will join him. Benjamin Watson and Dennis Pitta will be their tight ends. The defense is headlines by their linebackers, with Elvis Dumervil, C.J. Mosley and Terrell Suggs.

POST GAME REPORT
This game did not go as planned from the get go. The Ravens shut out the Browns in the first half, as RG3 continued his struggles. The Browns’ first drive after halftime was good, and it looked like maybe the Browns could mount a comeback. But their struggles continued, and the only other time they scored, they were already out of it. Things only came together for them for 1 play at the end, where Corey Coleman got a 72 yard touchdown reception. If RG3 wants to keep his starting job, he’ll need to improve.

POST GAME REPORT
This was another game that the Browns let get away from them. After going up 21-6 at halftime, the Browns were shut out in the second half, and allowed the Dolphins to come back and get the win. Corey Coleman beat his man twice for long touchdowns. The running game could never get going, and the defense allows too any completions to get off the field. The Browns have lost 3 straight to open the season, and need to get on track.
