Beware The Bat – Episode 3 – Brave and The BoldScene 1Scene 1 opens up with a crime scene set-up at the destroyed warehouse where Anarky's suicide bomber tried to kill Batman. Commissioner Jim Gordon, Detective Harvey Bullock and Detective John Jones are all checking out the scene of last night's crime. Commissioner Gordon is approached by the fire marshall.
Fire Marshall: “Thanks for coming, Commissioner.”
Commissioner Jim Gordon: “Why were the Police called? This looks like a run of the mill gas fire explosion. Pretty common with these old warehouses, I'm actually surprised this didn't happen sooner.”
Fire Marshall: “That's what we thought... until we saw the footage from across the street which is why we called you here.”
Commissioner Gordon and the two Detectives all look at each other.
Scene 2 Bruce Wayne is asleep in his bed, he camera focuses on the clock which shows that the time is 1:27 PM. Alfred walks into the room and opens the drapes to let the sun shine into the room.
Bruce Wayne: “Jesus, what time is it Alfred?”
Alfred: “Twenty-seven minutes past one.”
Bruce Wayne: “Why'd you let me sleep?”
Alfred: “You were almost killed last night and you jumped three stories out of that building.”
Bruce Wayne: “It was just another day at the office, Alfred.”
Alfred: “That might be so but one of your billionaire friends is downstairs.”
Bruce Wayne: “Lex sure is persistent.”
Alfred: “No, sir. It's not Mr. Luthor. It's Oliver Queen.”
Bruce Wayne: “Oliver? Why didn't you say so?”
Alfred: “I just did sir.”
Scene 3We are now back at the Gotham Police Station with Commissioner Gordon, Detective Harvey Bullock and Detective John Jones. They're all gathered in the briefing room with the television set-up showing security footage of what occurred at the abandoned warehouse. They begin watching the footage. They watch the Batmobile pulls up.
Harvey Bullock: “Nice ride.”
John Jones: “I agree. The ride is rather nice.”
The video gets to the part where Batman grapples up to the roof and climbs through the window from there.
Harvey Bullock: “Jesus Christ, this guy's a freakin' ninja.”
Nothing happens in the video until the part where Batman jumps out of the window mid-explosion.
Jim Gordon: “Why would Batman blow up an abandoned warehouse?”
John Jones: “Perhaps, it was blown up by someone else? A trap set by someone trying to kill The Batman?”
Jim Gordon: “There's nobody in Gotham capable of a bombing this big.”
Harvey Bullock: “We didn't think that a vigilante dressed up as a Bat with military grade vehicles armor and weaponry until recently. Maybe, we're dealing with a new kind of criminal in Gotham.”
Jim Gordon: “There's no evidence proving that anybody else was in that building. There's no proof that anyone other than Batman could've set that explosion. Until we can prove otherwise, we're labeling Batman a terrorist.”
Scene 4Bruce Wayne is walking down the long stairway of Wayne Manor as he is greeted by Oliver Queen. The two billionaires shake hands.
Bruce Wayne: “You're pretty far away from Star City, Ollie.”
Oliver Queen: “And you're a bit old to be taking naps in the afternoon. Late night?”
Bruce Wayne: “You could say that.”
Oliver Queen: “I was expecting a train of supermodels to have followed you down those stairs.”
Bruce Wayne: “So, why are you here?”
Oliver Queen: “I imagine you've received the same threats that I have by a radical named Anarky.”
Bruce Wayne: “Yeah, he's threatened you, Luthor, Palmer, and I as far as I know.”
Oliver Queen: “Got any ideas as to how we're gonna deal with this nutjob?”
Bruce Wayne: “I don't know. Have you contacted the authorities?”
Oliver Queen: “And let those conservative pricks stick their noses in my business? Hell no. You got any better ideas other than just telling the blue fascists?”
Bruce Wayne: “I really hope you're joking about the blue fascists.”
Oliver Queen: “Of course, I am. I'm not that crazy.”
Bruce Wayne: “But you are crazy enough to jump around rooftops in a green hood, shooting arrows at guys with sub-machine guns like a modern robin hood.”
Oliver Queen looks incredibly shocked and taken back by Bruce's accusation.
Oliver Queen: “Uh I have no idea what you're talking about. I've seen the guy on the news but I uh don't know why you'd think it's me.”
Bruce Wayne: “You're a terrible liar, Oliver.”
Oliver looks down and sighs.
Oliver Queen: “You got me.”
Oliver then looks up at Bruce on points his finger to Bruce's chest.
Oliver Queen: “If you tell a soul, I will stick an arrow in you.”
Bruce looks at the finger and the looks at Oliver.
Bruce Wayne: “I think we both know that is not happening. Follow me.”
Bruce walks over to a bookshelf, pulls some books off the shelf which reveals a a keypad and a red camera thing.
Oliver Queen: “That's one hell of a security system.”
Bruce has a retinal scan and types in a twelve-digit password into the keypad when suddenly the bookshelf moves slides to the side and doors slides up revealing a long staircase.
Oliver Queen: “Oh God, Bruce. Where are you taking me? I've seen Pulp Fiction, I hope that's not where this is going.”
They walk down the staircase and into the Batcave. Oliver follows Bruce and once he's down there and looks around at the Batsuit on display, the Batmobile and the Batcomputer he quits talking completely.
Bruce Wayne: “Speechless? That's a first.”
Scene 5Scene 5 starts with Jim Gordon being interviewed by a news reporter right outside of the Gotham Police Station.
News Reporter: “There are rumors spreading that the Gotham Police Department is currently after a man dressed as a Bat. There has been speculation as to if this Batman is even real, can you confirm or deny his existence and if so, is the Gotham Police Department after him?”
Commissioner Jim Gordon: “I can confirm that The Batman is real and yes, bringing him into custody is our number one priority. He is being charged with breaking and entering, assault and battery and he is currently a suspect in the bombing of the abandoned Acme warehouse. He is armed and dangerous, any sighting of The Batman should be reported to the police immediately. He should be considered a terrorist.”
Scene 6The scene begins in an old factory with Anarky standing on a high platform above hundreds of his henchmen.
Anarky: “Attention Anarkists! We've been hiding in the shadows for far too long. We threaten the elitists in our society and what do they do? They ignore us!”
The Anarkists all boo and get upset.
Anarky: “Or did they? Not long after we threatened them all, we were almost tracked down to a warehouse in Gotham but luckily I expected something like that. I set a trap for our Bat friend and he bit but he managed to escape! It's time we make our presence known to the public and we'll get Batman to find us again but this time he will not get the chance to fly away! He will instead decide to join our crusade to change the world!”
The Anarkists all rally and cheer after Anarky's speech.
Scene 7Scene 7 begins on a rooftop where Batman is perched on a gargoyle while Green Arrow stands behind him on the roof of the same building.
Green Arrow: “So, you tracked down one of Anarky's men and he blew himself up?”
Batman: “...”
Green Arrow: “You never were much of a talker... anyway, what's our next move to take down Anarky?”
Batman: “OUR next move? Don't mistake this discussion as some kind of partnership between us. You have to deal with Star City and I have Gotham.”
Green Arrow: “Don't you think we'd be better off taking them down together since it seems like they're based here in Gotham?”
Batman: “If they notice that Star City's protector is busy coming after them in Gotham then they'll go after Star City while you're on the offensive here in Gotham.”
Green Arrow: “Damn it Bru-, Batman! I'm here for one night and I want to do what I can to take this guys down instead of sitting on my ass waiting for them to attack my city, my business and me!”
Batman: “At this point, there's nothing we can do. Anarky's been quiet.”
Scene 8The scene starts with Detective Harvey Bullock walking down a sidewalk in a sketchy neighborhood. He pulls out a flask and takes a big gulp of the liquor inside before arriving at his stoop where a shirtless dead man lies on the steps. Harvey drops his flask and takes a few steps back. He notices that the word 'Korrupt' is carved onto the victim's stomach.
Scene 9We return to Batman and Green Arrow who are still patrolling Gotham together.
Green Arrow: “I thought Gotham would be worse then this. We've stopped a couple of muggings and a convenience store robbery, I was expecting a warzone between some gangsters and the police.”
Batman: “...”
Green Arrow: “Alrighty then.”
The awkward silence from Batman grows but is broken when Batman hears the police radio feed about the murder that occurred on Harvey Bullock's doorsteps.
Batman: “We need to move... NOW.”
Scene 10Batman and Green Arrow are on a nearby rooftop looking down at the crime scene, trying to avoid being spotted by the police. Commissioner Gordon is talking to Harvey Bullock as the forensics team examine the body.
Jim Gordon: “You know anything about this, Harv?
Harvey Bullock: “Boss, I've been telling you. I don't know why someone would do this.”
Jim Gordon: “It doesn't make sense. This isn't a random occurence, this looks like someone trying to send you a message. Are you sure there isn't something you'd like to admit to me?”
Harvey is about to say something but pauses.
Harvey Bullock: “No, Commish. There's nothing I've got to say about this.”
Jim Gordon: “You better be telling me the truth because if Internal Affairs finds out about this then the shitstorm that we'll be facing could lose both of us our jobs.”
A forensic analyst walks up to Gordon.
Forensic Analalyst: “Sir, there's something I think you should see.”
The forensic analyst walks with Gordon to the body. The forensic analyst turns the body over revealing Anarky's symbol carved into the victim' back.
Green Arrow: “So much for Anarky staying quiet.”
Batman looks over the scene and examines it from afar as the police clean up the crime scene.
Batman: “Look over there, blood drops on the other side of the street.”
Green Arrow: “How can you see that? Even the police nerds missed that.”
Batman: “The victim wasn't murdered here. He was dumped there. This is sloppy work, probably done by one of Anarky's thugs. The murder weapon was probably dumped not far from here.”
Green Arrow: “Which means you can get the prints?”
Batman: “Of course. The blood trail looks like it started in that alley.”
Green Arrow: “I've got this. You go to the your creepy basement and I'll find the evidence.”
Green Arrow shoots an arrow across the buildings. The arrow attatches to the building and creates a zipline of sorts. Green Arrow ziplines across the buildings and climbs down into the alley.
Scene 11Batman is in the Batcave with Green Arrow as they finish examining the prints on the knife Green Arrow found.
Green Arrow: “I can't believe he dumped it in a trash can.”
Batman: “Criminals aren't geniuses.”
Green Arrow: “I don't know about that, I've met a couple baddies in Star City that are pretty smart about what they're doing, I think they're just a little confused morally.”
Batman: “It doesn't make them smart, it makes them criminally insane.”
Green Arrow: “I wouldn't take it that far.”
Batman's computer makes some noises and a picture of a young man comes up.
Batman: “We've got a match. Elliot Caldwell.”
Green Arrow: “Jesus, he's just a kid.”
Batman: “He's also a murderer.”
Scene 12The scene begins in Barbara Gordon's bedroom where Barbara is in her room on her computer. It looks like she's hacking into some security cameras throughout Gotham. She looks around and sees little activity until she notices one that shows the Batmobile sooming through the streets of Gotham and follows it on different video feeds until it stops in front of a beaten down apartment building in a bad neighborhood. Batman and Green Arrow get out of the Batmobile and enter the building.
Barbara Gordon: “426 Nicholson Avenue.”
Barbara Gordon grabs her backpack and climbs out of her window.
Scene 13Batman and Green Arrow are in the apartment bulidng, walking down the hallway and they stop at a door.
Green Arrow: “So, do we knock?”
Batman kicks the door down and Elliot Caldwell runs for the window but Batman uses his grappling gun to grab Caldwell's leg and he gets pulled to Batman. Batman holds Caldwell down and punches him in the face.
Batman: “Don't try that again!”
Elliot Caldwell: “Whoa, what the hell do you want with me?”
Batman: “Why'd you kill that man!?!”
Elliot Caldwell: “I- I don't know what you're talking about!”
Batman punches him, picks him up and pins him against the wall.
Batman: “I'm going to ask you again! Tell me why you did it!”
Elliot Caldwell: “Okay, okay. Anarky told me to do it. It was an initiation into the gang.”
Batman: “Where is he!?!?”
Elliot Caldwell: “I don't know. I've never met him.”
Batman busts the window open and hangs Elliot out of the window. Green Arrow watches and tuns his head away.
Batman: “Where is Anarky!?!?”
Elliot Caldwell: “I don't know! They came to me! All I know is that the gang has been spending a lot of time at the old Ace Chemicals Factory!”
Batman pulls out a batarang and jams it through Elliot Caldwell's hand and through the wall, pinning him to it. Green Arrow cringes.
Green Arrow: “Holy crap! Why'd you do that!?”
Batman: “He's not going anywhere. Alfred, send an anonymous tip to the police about Caldwell. We'll plant the evidence here.”
Alfred (through the radio feed): “Right away, sir.”
Batman: “I'll begin planning a way into Ace Chemicals. Are you coming?”
Green Arrow: “I wish I could. I've got to get back to Star City. It looks like you've got this covered.”
Green Arrow hops out of the window and disappears. Batman begins leaving the building and as he gets into the Batmobile, Barbara Gordon is peeking around the corner of an alley snapping pictures of Batman.
