Beware The Bat – Episode 6 – A New Kind of CriminalScene 1 Episode 6 begins right where Episode 5 left off as the Joker and Batman continue their first confrontation in the Ace Chemicals building.
Joker:
"I am The Joker."Joker raises his arms to his sides, smiles wide and begins to laugh a little. Batman punches Joker in the face, knees him in the gut and it makes Joker break out in uncontrollable laughter. Batman ties Joker's hands together and then his feet before lifting Joker up over his shoulder and carries him out of the Ace Chemicals building. Joker continues laughing and rambling as he's being carried out.
Joker:
"Hahahahahahaha! This is tooo good!"Batman is back at the entrance to Ace Chemicals and he drops him next to the door before he presses buttons on his gauntlet which makes the batmobile drive itself to Batman's location.
Joker:
"Nice ride, Batty boy! Can I take It for a spin? Hahaha!"Batman gets in the batmobile as police sirens are heard in the distance and are getting closer.
Joker:
"Oh, you can't leave me here all alone! You have no idea the kind of crazies that come out at night! Hahahahaha!"Batman drives off right before the police arrive.
Scene 2Jim Gordon, Harvey Bullock, Renee Montoya and John Jones are all standing outside an interrogation room looking at The Joker through a one way window.
Harvey Bullock: "The hell are we supposed to do wit' 'im?"
Renee Montoya: "What else? Send him to
Arkham."
Jim Gordon: "I think that's a little premature. I think we need to get more out of him."
Harvey Bullock: "What do you mean? We have everything we need, he confessed to killing everyone in that Ace Chemicals place, including the guy who held yous and your daughter at gunpoint."
Jim Gordon: "We don't even know who he is. His face is bleached white, he's got clown makeup that won't wash off and his prints don't match anyone in the database. It's like he's a ghost."
John Jones: "I don't believe we need anything from him other than to lock him away and move on to other matters."
Renee Montoya: "Yeah, I get that we don't know a lot about him but he's clearly not in a mental state to help us know anything about him. He confessed to murdering 38 people with his lethal gas and he was sitting there waiting for us as if he wan-"
Montoya is interrupted by The Joker.
The Joker:
"Hellooooo, I'm still here! Did you forget about little old me? Re you going to take me to the looney bin yet?"Jim Gordon: "I need a smoke, Bullock, you make the arrangements to get that guy sent to Arkham."
Scene 3 Barbara Gordon is sitting on her bed reading some blog about the Batman when suddenly her phone rings. She picks it up to look who's calling and doesn't recognize the number. She answers it.
Barbara Gordon: "Hello?"
Dick Grayson: "Hey Barbara, it's Dick. From school."
Barbara Gordon: "Dick? How'd you get my number?:"
Dick Grayson: "I got It from that girl that sits next to you in class."
Barbara Gordon: "Okay? What do you want, Dick?"
Dick Grayson: "I was wondering if we could exchange notes, I'm a little confused with what we've been doing in class lately. "
Barbara Gordon: "Couldn't you ask someone else? I mean there are at least thirty other people in that class."
Dick Grayson: "I thought you were really smart and you sit right in front of me so I figured you were my best option."
Barbara Gordon: "Ugh, fine. Where do you want to meet up?"
Dick Grayson: "I'll pick you up, text me your address."
Scene 4 Commissioner Jim Gordon is standing in a dark alley near the police station smoking a cigarette. A slight whoosh is heard nearby.
Jim Gordon: "I was beginning to wonder if you would ever come looking for me."
Batman steps out from a shadow.
Jim Gordon: "You've got some balls to just walk up to me right next to a police station."
Batman: "The Joker, what are you going to do with him?"
Jim Gordon: "Same thing we do with all of the crazies in Gotham, send them to Arkham Asylum."
Batman: "He's different, you know. Something is different about The Joker, he's something different, something new."
Jim Gordon: "It seems like Gotham's facing a new kind of criminal every week. What happened to the days when it was just the Falcones running the crime in Gotham."
Batman: "I apprehended Carmine Falcone and his entire organization split up and started working for Penguin, Two-Face and The Joker."
Jim Gordon: "Penguin, Two-Face, Joker, Gotham's going crazy with these criminals and their gimmicks. Not just the criminals either, there's also you, Batman, running around catching criminals and trying to do my job."
Batman: "I'm just trying to clean up Gotham the only way it can be."
Jim Gordon: "The only way? That's pretty narrow minded."
Batman: "How long have you been on the police force? What have you accomplished other than catch a couple of expendable henchmen? I've taken down the Falcone empire and I've only been doing this for five months."
Jim Gordon: "What did that do? You take down Falcone and just made every other crime group even more powerful. Take the organization out of organized crime and you get complete and utter anarchy... he's dead yet his dreams really are coming true."
Jim's phone rings and he turns away from Batman to answer it.
Jim Gordon: "Shooting at the Iceberg Casino? It's gotta be Penguin related... speak of the devil. Make any nearby squad cars converge to the location and send Detective John Jones to investigate."
Gordon turns back to Batman and he's gone.
Scene 5 Barbara Gordon is sitting on the steps outside her apartment when a car pulls up and she gets in. Dick Grayson is in the driver's seat. He begins driving.
Dick Grayson: "I've gotta be honest with you, I didn't actually want to go over notes. I haven't been able to get our conversation out of my mind."
Barbara Gordon: "Listen, I'm flattered but I really dont have time for-"
Dick Grayson: "Let me finish, you're the first person, other than a cop, that I've told about my parent's murder. Something about you, I just know I can trust you. Which is why I'm bringing you with me."
Barbara Gordon: "Bringing me where?"
Dick Grayson: "To find Batman."
Barbara Gordon: "Find him!? Why!?"
Dick Grayson: "You and I both know that he is trying to save Gotham and is doing better than the police, I want to do what he does, I want to save Gotham."
Barbara Gordon: "I know exactly what you mean but what are you going to do when you do find him? 'Hey Batman, I want to be just like you, now teach me your ways'?"
Dick Grayson:"Basically."
A police scanner goes off in the backseat of the car.
Police Scanner: "Gunfire has been heard at The Iceberg Casino. Nearby units converge."
Dick Grayson: "Shootout at The Penguin's place? That's big! Batman's got to show up there a t some point!"
Barbara Gordon: "Are you crazy!?!? That's dangerous, we could be killed!"
Dick turns the car around abruptly and speeds to get to The Iceberg Casino.
Scene 6Batman is inside the Batmobile driving to The Iceberg Casino as well as he talks to Alfred.
Alfred: "Master Wayne, you should really come home and rest. You've been out there for six hours."
Batman: "No rest for the wicked Alfred. Also, don't call me that right now, I'm Batman right now."
Alfred: "I will do nothing of the sort, that sounds ridiculous. And, Master Wayne, you are not wicked."
Batman: "...Any Bruce Wayne news?"
Alfred: "Lucius Fox has been trying to get you to meet with him about YOUR company."
Batman: "Anything else?"
Alfred: "Well, Miss Quinzel has called and left voice messages sixteen times."
Batman: "I should give her a call sometime, she seemed.... nice. Plus, it would give me an in to Arkham Asylum if ever needed."
Alfred sighs in disappointment.
Alfred: "I warned you about her, sir. She seems more like a patient than a doctor."
Batman: "I've arrived... before the police.... of course."
Batman gets out as Milos Grapa is seen exiting the Casino. He runs downs a dark alley and Batman begins chasing after him.
Scene 7We cut away to Dick Grayson's car where he's parked with Barbara Gordon, watching everything go down. Dick sees Milos Grapa.
Dick Grayson: "Oh My God, that's the man that killed my parents... wait here."
Dick immediately gets out and begins running down another alley in an attempt to cut Milos off. Barbara runs after Dick. We cut back and forth between Barbara chasing Dick and Batman chasing Milos Grapa before eventually their paths collide. Dick prepares to stop Milos but Milos pulls out his gun and shoots Dick in the torso and then pushed Barbara out of the way which caused her to hit her head and knock her out. Batman catches up and looks at the two on the ground. One bleeding out from a gunshot wound and the other knocked out cold. Batman talks to Dick.
Batman: "What are doing out here, kid? You really have no business out here this late at night. "
Dick uses most of his energy to talk to Batman.
Dick Grayson: "That man... he... he killed my parents."
Batman's expression changes to that of shock as he remembers his own parents murder as Milos gets away in Dick's car. Batman picks them up and and puts them in the Batmobile with him. He drives away to the Batcave.
