Beware The Bat – Episode 8 – Beware The CatScene 1It is late at night and we see Batman jumping from rooftop to rooftop down a street tailing a car. We cut back and forth from Batman on the rooftops to Barbara Gordon in the Batcave at the Batcomputer.
Barbara Gordon: “I still don’t quite get why you haven’t allowed Dick to join you on the streets yet. He’s obviously ready for the combat and of course the acrobatics but you haven’t even got him a uniform yet?”
Batman: “This is too personal for him. He’s obviously cut out for this but I want to give him the chance to think it through rationally before he goes out and gets himself killed”
Barbara Gordon: “Yeah, I understand that but he’s so adamant on getting this done"
Batman: “I need to know if you’ve found any leads on Grapa.”
Barbara Gordon: “I haven’t found anything on him yet but I’ve started running his face through surveillance cameras throughout the city via some facial recognition software on the Batcomputer but so far I haven’t anything.”
Batman: “Good work, Oracle. If you can’t find anything, spread your search radius to our neighboring cities such as Star City, Keystone and Metropolis. I believe the car is about to reach it’s destination.”
Barbara Gordon: “Oracle? Is that my superhero name now?”
Batman: “It’s your codename. Keep me updated on the Grapa situation.”
Barbara Gordon: “Will do, Bruce. I’ll probably start running his face elsewhere shortly.”
The car stops in front of a warehouse, the driver, Tony Li, gets out and opens up the backdoor of the car for Oswald Cobblepot aka The Penguin who exits the car followed by Selina Kyle in a revealing dress. Batman watches them with binoculars until they disappear into the warehouse.
Scene 2We cut to a shot of Dick Grayson looking at an old newspaper with an headline that reads 'Flying Graysons shot and killed, survived by only son" when his phone buzzes. He looks at his phone and he looks at it. A text message from ‘Barbara’ appears. It reads
“I figured I should tell you before I tell Bruce. Milos Grapa is in Metropolis. Don’t mention it to Bruce.”
Scene 3Penguin enters the warehouse with Selina Kyle and Tony Li following close behind. They look around and it is completely empty.
Penguin: “They already got it… THEY ALREADY GOT IT! How did we miss this!?”
Tony Li: “Sir, I don’t think we should stay here and get upset about the past. We should think about how we will retaliate. We must find out who did this and strike back.”
Penguin: “Now how do you expect us to figure out who Grapa leaked our information to?”
Selina Kyle: “I think I’ve got a hunch.”
Selina walks away from them and finds a coin on the ground. She picks it up and looks at it and notices that it’s a two-faced coin. She shows it to Penguin.
Penguin: “It was Harvey. I know how we’re going to get back at that disfigured freak. Selina, you’re going to need to wear my favorite outfit of yours.”
Selina Kyle: “Can’t you get someone else to do it?”
Penguin gets angry and grabs Selina by the root of her hair and brings her face to face with him.
Penguin: “ Listen to me, whore. I still own you and you will do whatever I want you to do because you still owe me bitch. I say jump, you say how high. I say gimme a kiss and you say which cheek. Understood?”
Penguin creepily gives her a kiss on the lips before pushing her away and to the ground.
Scene 4We cut away to Batman who is now on top of the warehouse when he shoots a tracking device onto the rear bumper on the car that Penguin arrived in. Batman watches as Penguin, Tony Li and Selina Kyle exit the warehouse. Penguin and Tony get into the car but Selina doesn't, Selina starts walking down the street under all of the dim street lights in one of the more dangerous parts of Gotham. Batman begins following her from the rooftops. She is followed by a hooded man who walks out of an alley. Batman continues following by the rooftops but has a look in his eye as if he's ready to take the guy down if he makes a move. The hooded man puts his hand on Selina's shoulder and Selina immediately reacts. She graps the hooded man's arm and unleashes a flurry of majestic punches and kicks. Batman is shocked by Selina but continues following by the rooftops until she reaches a run-down apartment building. She enters the building.
Scene 5We get a shot of Dick Grayson entering the Batcave via a stairway entrance. Dick approaches Barbara who is sitting at the Batcomputer.
Dick Grayson: "I got your text, wanna give me some more details before I head out?"
Barbara Gordon: "Before you head out? You're leaving?"
Dick Grayson: "Yeah, what else did you expect when you told me where Milos Grapa is?"
Barbara Gordon: "I don't know. I figured you'd think about it for a bit and then try to figure out the next move with Bruce."
Dick Grayson: "With Bruce? He doesn't have e out there now does he? If he really wanted me out there, he'd have given me a suit and I would be out there patrolling Gotham with him right now. He doesn't think I'm ready, he thinks I'm going to get myself killed. I, on the other hand, know that I'm ready so I'm going after the man that murdered my parents myself and you can't stop me."
Barbara Gordon: "I.. I'll give you some more details. He's been frequuenting a rundown bar in Metropolis, it's called the Ace O'Clubs. It was one time owned by a man named Bibbo Bibbowski until he was shot and killed by get this... Harvey Dent."
Dick Grayson: "Two-Face? Grapa must be working for him which would explain what went down at the Iceberg Lounge. Thanks for helping me, Barbara. Don't worry about me, when I return from Metropolis I'll come back ready to protect Gotham, with or without
Batman."
Scene 6The next scene we see Selina entering her dark apartment. She pets her cat before walking to her bedroom and shuts the door. The camera focuses on the door for a few moments as we hear a bit of bustling before the door opens up, Selina is now in a tight leather catsuit, mask and goggles. Suddenly Batman's voice is heard in the apartment.
Batman: "What does Cobblepot have on you?"
Selina is startled by his voice.
Selina: "Who's there?"
Batman steps out from a shadowey corner of the apartment.
Batman: "That's an interesting outfit."
Selina's face goes from a look of shock and fear to a playful smirk.
Selina: "You must be the Batman I've been hearing about. I've been dying to see you in person."
Batman: "I'll try again, what does Cobblepot have on you?"
Selina: "Wow, all business with you huh? You really cut to the chase. Allow me to do the same..."
Selina slips past Batman and dives out the window. She starts running across rooftops as Batman follows close behind. Selina taunts him.
Selina: "So, what's your interest in Cobblepot anyway? Lose big time on one of his slot machines? Did he tear down your cave and build a casino?"
Selina drops off one of the rooftops and disappears. Batman looks around in confusion as she's nowhere to be found.
Scene 7This scene we see Harleen Quinzel in a chair in an office looking at her notepad as The Joker is seen lying down on a couch with his feet up as he's talking to her. Harleen looks completely uninterested in what he has to say.
Joker: "I guess a lot of my psychotic outrages have to do with when my father used to beat me for not smiling enough. He was an alcoholic, he always drank and drank and drank and drank. Ya know, to this day I've never had a sip of alcohol. I've always preferred some of the lighter drugs like LSD and cocaine. Oh and whatever the hell is the stuff that gave me this delightful complexion. I've tried to give it to other people but they always just die, at least they died with a smile on their face. Wait a minute."
Joker sits up and notices Harleen not paying attention.
The Joker: "You're not even listening to me! I poured my heart out to you and you didn't even listen!"
Harleen looks a little startled and guilty.
Harleen Quinzel: "Oh, I'm sorry. I'm just a little... distracted."
The Joker: "What's the matter deary?"
Harleen Quinzel: "Oh, it's nothing... just got some personaly problems I'm trying to deal with."
The Joker: "It's okay you can tell me. I'm an open ear that is ready to be here and hear for you. Is it man troubles? I bet it is. Tell Mister J everything, all the little dirty details."
Harleen looks up at Joker.
Harleen Quinzel: "Well, my man has been so busy with his work, he hasn't even been answering my calls. I'm worried that he doesn't love me anymore, I thought we were on our way to something special, maybe even marriage. He's my everything."
Harleen starts to cry a bit as she talks.
The Joker: "What's this poor mans name and when was the last time you saw him?"
Harleen Quinzel: "His name is Bruce, Bruce Wayne. The last time we were together was on our first date."
After Harleen's last comment, Joker's sinister smile seemed to widen quite a bit as he knows she's mentally vulnerable.
The Joker: "Bruce Wayne? That poor schmuck doesn't deserve you. You deserve a man that'll take care of you and will give you all the attention that you deserve. Don't let this one prick ruin love for you. You need to go out there and find someone new, move on from Bruce Wayne. I mean, if I didn't look as ugly as I do and wasn't a nutjob in a looney bin. I'd ask you out."
Harleen wipes away a single tear as she starts to smile a little bit.
Harleen Quinzel: "You would?"
The Joker: "Of course I would! You're a catch, Harley!"
Harleen Quinzel: "Harley? I like that, nobody has ever called me that before and thanks. Thank you, Mistah J and don't be so down on yourself. I think you'd be quite a catch yourself."
Scene 8In the next scene we see Dick Grayson driving early in the morning among a few other cars as we see a sign that says 'Welcome to Metropolis'. He stops in front of a run-down motel and grabs a duffel bag from the passenger's seat. He unzips it briefly to take a peek inside and we see a ski mask, some gloves and other dark clothing. He zips it up and exits his car as he steps up to the motel.
Scene 9The next scene we get a shot of Penguin sitting at his bar in the Iceberg Casino as he takes a sip of what looks to be whiskey. Tony Li walks up behind him.
Tony Li: "Excuse me, Mr. Cobblepot."
Penguin spins around in his stool to look towards Tony.
Penguin: "What do you want, Tony?"
Tony Li: "Well, I just got word about the wherabouts of Milos Grapa."
Penguin: "The traitor! Where the hell is that turncoat!?! I want to personally make sure he pays for what he's done to my business!"
Tony Li: "Well, he's been spotted frequenting a bar called the Ace O'Clubs... in Metropolis. Rumor has it that Two-Face has taken it over and been using it has a hideout and base of operations."
Penguin starts to chuckle a bit.
Penguin: "We got those bastards. Get a hold of Selina and tell her that's where I want her to be. Tell her I want any valuables that she can find there and take them. Oh, and make sure to tell her... to kill Milos Grapa."
Tony looks to be take back by this.
Tony Li: "But sir, we've never had her kill before. Milos Grapa is a dangerous guy, I'm not so sure she could even pull it off."
Penguin: "Good, we'll have them kill each other. Maybe, that Two-Face, Harvey Dent will get caught in the crossfire and we'll have even more of our problems solved."
Scene 10This scene starts with a distraught Barbara Gordon leaning forward in the chair in front of the Batcomputer. She rubs her temples as the Batmobile shows up. Batman exits the Batmobile and takes his cowl off. He approaches Barbara with an odd look of what almost appears to be excitement.
Batman: "Where's Dick, I've got something for him."
Barbara turns around and looks at Bruce with sad eyes.
Barbara Gordon: "He, he went to Metropolis."
Batman's face immediately goes to a look of concern as he knows something else is going on.
Batman: "Metropolis? Why is he in Metropolis?"
Barbara Gordon: "Because... that's where Milos Grapa is."
Batman: "And how'd he find that out!?!"
Barbara Gordon: "Because... I told him."
Batman clearly looks pissed.
Batman: "What the hell did you do?!? He isn't ready to take that on by himself! You don't realize how big this is! He goes to Metropolis to confront Milos Grapa and he's going to run into Two-Face and his gang!"
Barbara Gordon: "Two-Face is involved!?!"
Batman starts walking up some stairs with his Batsuit on.
Barbara Gordon: "Where are you going?!?"
Batman: "To get Dick his suit then I'm going to Metropolis."
